Quests, Events, and Contests! Oh My!
It's Dark!
As of December 11th, the cave is pitch black again! :'( An angry sprite is trying to fix a
totally not sabotaged broken generator. Help her out to
shed some light on this exhausting situation.
So Many Quests!
Right now we have quite a few quests happening in the cave. Unless the quest thread states that it takes place concurrently with another thread, feel free to enact liquid time to participate in multiple quests. ((If two threads are linked together and are taking place at the same, you cannot participate in both with the same character.)) The Quest List in the Guidebook is frequently updated to reflect updates and changes with quests, so don't forget to check it if you want to see what's happening with quests in the cave!
Quest: To-Do List P3 — Nemean is waiting with Felina for the Gembounds to return with Batcat. Xireidi has successfully knocked out and captured one of its clones, but wasn't what Nemean was looking for. In fact, it gobbled her right up! Upset at being some slobbering beast's meal, the sprite has sent Xireidi back out to fetch her the
real Batcat—and has jammed something into the generator, plunging the cave back into total darkness!
> Quest Recruitment: Finding Batcat P2 — "Shall we stumble through the darkness or murder the light?" Xireidi is recruiting Gembounds to help him search for the real Batcat. Let him know if you're interested in advance, or keep an eye out for the search party when they head to Monoceros!
Quest: Three Kings of Orion — During a fight between Xireidi and a Batcat clone in Orion, the red wolf throws the creature into wall; the weak area of rock breaks and crumbles, revealing a hole and a strange energy. Shortly after, an EMP-like burst (
Quest: KAKUHM) disrupts Orion, shaking the entire quadrant. More of the wall crumbles away, the energy dwindling. Three large chrysalises were orbiting each other inside, soon after hatching into crane-like bird figures. Their bodies are almost ethereal in appearance and made up of swirling, translucent mass and bright twinkling dots. They seem to be arguing!
Quest: Nine Lives — "To make an end is to make a beginning." The crackle of energy - like a thunder storm, rumbling with intent and then booming great flashes of light and sound entwined - has swept in to Polaris. Its violent energy seems ready to zap the fur, scales, or feathers off of anything that might be brave enough to come close! What could be causing it?! It almost seems alive!

Along with some of the cool quests going on right now, we have some fun and interesting events happening!
Magicka Event: Catch Me If You Can! — A giant crystal spider of pure magicka has crashed into Polaris and is speeding toward the Spire! The Gembounds have taken up arms against it, but will they be able to stop it in time? Should they? There is only
one round left in this event before the spider reaches its goal! If the Gembounds fail to incapacitate it and bring its HP to zero, the Magicka Spider will reach the Spire! What will happen if it does!? What will happen if it doesn't!?
[RE] היא אוהבת דממה — Something strange has appeared at the entrance of Canis. It looks like something may have been dragged into an irregular hole in the wall. Several Gembounds have gone to investigate, but... what is it they might have found?
Halloween Events — Some of our Halloween threads are still ongoing, and again, we apologize for the sudden downtime we had during these events at the end of October.

Though the Winter Ad contest is coming to an end, we have other contests ongoing or just starting. Along with a Secret Santa in the works and the open emoji submissions, we will be continuing to devise new contests everyone may participate in and have a chance at winning neat prizes.

Discord Emoji Submissions — Our Discord has some open slots for custom emojis! Submit your own emojis in this thread so that we can upload and use them in our server! We'll reward you some juicy magicka for your submissions, and extra if your emojis are uploaded to be used. This has no end date, and we may cycle emojis if we get enough submissions to keep the server feeling fresh.

Groups are open! — With the flush of activity that has returned to Origin, groups are once again open! Our newest group is

Magicka Donations — A rule we had in place about magicka donations (Guidebook>Rules>#10) went widely ignored, and unenforced, so magicka donations were disabled for a short time while we corrected some recent wrongdoings. We waited about a cycle for things to balance out and will be turning magicka donations back on.
Please remember: magicka donations may only be done between
active characters; donations may not be done between dead or inactive characters to active characters. Magicka made from "wiping" a character (selling all of its spells) is considered rendering the character inactive, and this is also discouraged. (

Join Us On Discord! — Arkrael set us up with a shiny new Discord! Somewhere in the cosmos is the ghost of our old one, but nobody remembers that and it definitely is space junk by now. While we love having this fun and fast interactive chatting medium, there are some things we want to remind you about and clarify:
—Check the pins in most of the channels!
— Our Discord will not handle official site means such as quest progression, character or group applications, RCS or Mutation applications, Magicka Market or Update Me! requests, etc. All of these things must be posted on the site forum.
— GM Requests must always be requested through the GM Request feature on the site, even if you tag us in the #gm-request channel; we will always see these requests on any of our mod accounts, but you can use this channel to ask us about requests or questions about requests, if you're not sure whether or not something requires a request.
— You're always welcome to chat with the staff in the #contact-a-staff channel. We are all on different levels of decision making, knowledge, and ability in regards to what can be done, so contacting us all at once in this channel will ensure you get the best help ASAP, and the most updated and correct answers. In the Discord we have our two site owners and admins: CJ and Madison, who also act as Game Masters. We also have our Staff: Java (Game Master), Norvilion (Game Master), Moonlit Dream (Moderator | Miles in the Discord), Fira (Moderator). Arkrael is also a staff member, but has been absent from the Discord recently; Arkrael is a cycling GM, and is still available to help you onsite.
— #announcements and #events will often have posts about new things happening in the cave or in the Discord, so check them regularly as well. #tag has an important pin about who would like to be tagged where, so please respect the users on those lists and where they would or would not liked to be tagged. If you want to be added to either of the lists, tag or DM CJ with the details!

Envy hatches and is found by Aaliyah, who decides to take the small weasel child into her care.
Grappling Thorns
Dezba hatches in Cetus, manifesting her magic right away through a sudden burst of anger as she slips into a sharp patch of briars.
The Morning Chorus
Harpy hatches from the ceiling of Eridanus. Somehow, she doesn't pass out during the incredibly and impossibly long fall all the way down, and lands on top of the ten meter tall Monarch. Even more incredible, her body survives the impact without a scratch. Beginner's luck...? Riffi the bluejay is on the scene to help out.
Hatching
Azar hatches and is happy to be alive, to be Azar! He meets Astaroth, who teaches Azar about death. Azar tells Astaroth he can make everyone happy, including the embodiment of darkness Astaroth himself.
Familiarity
A melanistic snow leopard has hatched on the ledge above the waterfall in Pisces!
Out of the Shell
A leucistic monocled cobra hatches in Polaris, during the strange lightning storm—but is stuck between jagged and sharp pieces of her broken chrysalis! Kielo and Azar show up to help out!
favorite son
An amethyst chrysalis falls from The Divine in Cetus, hatching an african golden wolf who tired himself out attempting to walk the circumference of the tree; instead, he retires to his shattered chrysalis to nap. When he wakes up, he stumbles upon a napping Alaska!
