When the call came, Brutus didn't hesitate to come running. He was excited to meet more herbivore friends - a term that was a little over obvious because all herbivores were his friends and all his friends were herbivores, but whatever. The sheep charged up through the rocks and among the buildings until he had caught sight of his great, bold father. His eyes lit up, and then he saw the others - strangers, and weird. One with a long neck. The other with stripes. "Look out Pa, I'mma headbutt you right good!" The sheep bleated excitedly, ducking his head as he ran towards them.

Closing the distance, Brutus charged at full speed towards the stag. He didn't intend on starting a fight or anything - he was naturally rowdy, he couldn't help it, and headbutting was more of a greeting wasn't it? In any case, he ended up skidding and ramming his head into Hasira's flank with a boyish laugh, only to rebound against the stag's thick muscles and fly back onto his rump. "I gotcha!" Then he grinned and looked at the two strangers. "Hiya! Are you friends?"

She and Nettle heard the call too, and they'd been playing with Brutus in the mess of crumbling buildings when he went running off towards the sound. Fever shook her head at their younger brother, who was always running off somewhere, much faster than his stockier and heavier siblings. Already Fever could feel herself gaining bulk; she wasn't as light on her feet as she was when she woke up, and it was slightly irritating to her. She liked dancing around. But, on the other hoof, it was exciting to get stronger and stronger without even trying.

"Brother!" She called out, giving a look to Nettle. "Wait up!" She knew Nettle wouldn't be able to follow, always being so slow.

But Brutus was already off and away, and couldn't hear her.

She just sighed again and shrugged, following the trail and the call. "C'mon Net."

He was already unable to join in the sibling game of tag because of his slow speed; that already was starting to prick on him. He wanted to run around and play and jump, but he was already getting heavier than his sister, he could tell. He'd marked their height and length on a specific building where half of the wall had fallen down, and they'd nearly doubled in size by now. Not only did the extra bulk keep him slow, but his hips were getting worse as he grew older.

He didn't even think about his tail.

So he got up from his comfortable corner where he'd been watching their game and nodded, following his sister to the big arena as fast as he was able. Of course, Fever skipped ahead, being naturally light on her feet for a rhino, but he was always close enough to see her.

They made it to the interesting gathering where Papa was, and he could see Brutus falling on his rump, along with two new herbivores he'd never seen before. One was.....really really really tall, even if her long neck was perched safely on the striped one's shoulder. Wow. They looked really happy together, he noted. Like best friends, but....more?

He shrugged internally. He still had a lot to learn.

He sat on one side of their Papa calmly and sedately, while Fever sat on the other side, her shoulder leaning against Papa's leg. Through the gaps of their tall Papa, he shook her head at her, and she frowned, and stopped leaning on him. That was good. Papa might not've liked that.
