QUESTS/EVENTS
Torrential downpours cause localized flooding and many upset cats. Along with these frequent rain, from gentle drizzles to heavy rainfall, there seems to be a flux of Magicka drawn in particular to water sources. Occasional jet streams of warm air make narrower tunnels harder to navigate. On occasion, the rain intensifies, becoming howling storms with sleet or large hail. However, the temperatures overall are a little warmer, with snow and ice in temperate caves somewhat receding.
Kitty dragged herself to her paws before Comet got close enough, adrenaline and fear fueling her and making the pain more of a distant buzz than anything. Fully aware that one of her paws was hurting like crazy and also bleeding quite a lot, though not quite aware of what exactly had happened, Kitty felt terror seize her. Was this it? Was she cornered? Well... the wolf hadn't attacked her again, although the air was noticeably less humid. Not that Kitty was concerned. What was important was that the wolf pup was right in front of her, and Kitty reacted accordingly. She surged upward, her little teeth bared to dig into Comet's throat -- not even aware of the fact that A: this was a cheap shot and B: even if she got a critical success, her tiny jaws weren't strong enough (yet) to make it through all that fur.

Comet
Arctic Wolf
At this point, both Comet and the crazy red raccoon were noticeably tired out, but the airdrink had helped her dehydration. She had expected the raccoon to stay on the ground for a bit longer, but they recovered quickly, and she noticed that their paw was bleeding. Suddenly, the raccoon became a red blur as it targeted her throat. Comet already knew that it wouldn't work. The fur around her throat was not only the thickest, but it also had a lot of loose skin because wolves were literally made to deflect attacks at the throat.
Not feeling the need to dodge, Comet readied her own attack, and the raccoon's teeth bit down on her fur, but she didn't feel a thing. It was fur after all. Now that she was well hydrated, Comet decided that this would be the perfect time to end this duel once and for all. At point blank range again, there was no way this attack would miss. Opening her jaws and pointing down at the raccoon, she felt the water pour out in a concentrated jet of water.
Kitty was blasted back by another spout of water from the brutish wolf, and realized just how battered she was. Bruised, bleeding, and in a world of pain, she bared her teeth and took advantage of the angle the wolf was standing at to dart away. She let out a pained cry as she put weight on her injured paw, whirling around to face Comet with bared teeth as she slowly backed away. The message was clear -- leave me alone. Whether or not the wolf obeyed was another matter entirely.
The last blast of water seemed to do the trick, and Comet watched as the red raccoon darted away. The fight had led to many injuries for the raccoon, and much less for the wolf. She had only a few bite marks and they were shallow are didn't hurt.
Suddenly, she heard the hurt cry of the raccoon, who foolishly decided to put wait on their bleeding paw. Only a few moments earlier they were fighting, but now Comet wanted to help them. It was hard to get around with an injured paw, and she hoped to help them. "Could I help you? You're paw looks hurt."
Kitty held her paw close to her chest, still trying to back away. Soaking wet and battered. "Not eatin' me," the red panda said fiercely, baring her teeth in a warning. She really wanted a wisp right about now, but Kitty didn't want to risk showing weakness to this thing (or not being so firmly On Her Guard). She took a half-step back, glancing back for a split-second to make sure she didn't fall before facing Comet again.
Comet wanted to help, but how could she do that if her patient was not willing to corporate? "I'm not going to eat you. Just-- come over here and let me help." She stopped her advance, so it the raccoon wouldn't think she was trying to chase them.

The puerile animal barely understood Comet, and her body language wasn't very convincing. Stumbling on her torn claw and desperate for escape, Kitty finally found herself backed up against a tree. Glancing over her shoulder, she started a desperate lunge upward -- such a thing was difficult on a torn claw, but she managed to pull herself up and firmly out of reach (or so she assumed), clinging to a branch and shaking in every limb as she looked down at Comet. Terrified, desperate, and cold.

Comet allowed the raccoon to pull itself onto the branch-- but not quite out of reach. It she jumped high enough she probably would've been able to break the branch, but she wasn't going to do that. How would you show someone that she were friendly?
Ah, bubbles helped. She always made bubbles when she got nervous. Comet watched as the bubbles slowly floated up to the red raccoon's perch.

In a stunning moment of clarity, Kitty thought, There is no protocol for this. She squinted at the bubbles and batted at one with her good paw, popping it and watching the water fall to the ground. Certainly, it did not hit her back as she'd expected it to. So either Comet was really bad at this whole magic thing, or she was actually changing her mind about trying to eat Kitty...? That, or was trying to trick her, but Kitty's mind didn't really work that well in regards to sorting out logical pathways. She did not yet have the intelligence to sort out that particular chess game.
She paused, eyed the bubbles. They reminded her of... wisps? An almost blindingly bright blue light bobbed into existence to the left of her, about twice the size that they usually were as though it were about to split in two. "... Wisp," she explained quietly, still staring at Comet. Wary. Unsure. But... considering trusting her.
