Mirrikh sharply looked towards the blue diamond chrysalis at the sound of the cracking, recognizing it from their own hatching. Yet, for all they had been aware the chrysalis was large, nothing could have prevented their awe at seeing their newly hatched sibling.

The other's smell was odd, sure, but it was nothing in the face of the size of their sibling, in their opinion. Mirrikh was not experienced enough to know what decay and death smelled like, so they had no comparison there to voice. But they could compare their own size to the size of their sibling.

Mirrikh could have been stacked maybe twenty times to be as tall as their sibling, and forty-four times of their height would be the other's length. "You are so very large," Mirrikh expressed, sounding very impressed, their voice tangled with a feline-like purr that likely was something they had inherited from Samael.

"What is your name, my sibling? I am Mirrikh, and this is our father Samael," they introduced themself with a gesture of their small hand, then similarly gestured towards Samael.

Samael was delighted that not one, but two of his children had hatched. He reached out with his magic to try to tell what this child was feeling upon seeing the world for the first time.

He felt the beginnings of emotions, but he could not quite decipher them, meanwhile, Mirrikh was making introductions. They seemed to be picking up on things quickly, Mirrikh.

It made sense, his children were both adults in form and in mind. Still, he hoped that he might be allowed to care for them regardless of either of their ages.

Another hope was present in his mind, as he glanced towards the chrysalis Terror and he had given life to together. Yet, that one did not hatch, nor show signs of doing so. He could admit to a sense of sadness if only to himself.

Terror and him had been kindred souls. He loved all his children equally, but he had wanted that child for more reasons that the desire to be a parent, he had wanted a connection to Terror.

He still had that connection, he reminded himself, even if the child took their time hatching.

"As Mirrikh says, I am Samael, one of your parents. You may call me whatever suits best in your mind. After all, what's a parent? 'It is not hand, nor foot, nor arm, nor face. What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other word would smell as sweet,'" he paused following the quote.

"That line is in this play as well, if slightly different- Ah, I don't know if you've actually been able to hear me within your chrysalises, though, when I've read to you. While this play is written in book format, originally they were performed on stages. That one is from 'Romeo and Juliet', it displays the tragic way that grievances can have effects on generations overall, but that line is from the character Juliet. She considers the way that names, specifically 'surnames' in the case of this quote which were names that were passed down in families often in books, impact impressions," he explains.

"But she also concludes that no matter what name one calls something, it does not change the nature of the named thing. For example, a flower still smelling the same. Or, in my case, a parent still caring about his children," he had rambled quite a bit, but he got to the point eventually. He hoped his children did not mind.

Fafnir gazes at one of the fae within the circle of broken shards. Yes, Fafnir is large. Even as a young gembound the creature would've been huge - if the fae parent had been able to see it. Alas, hatching late, Fafnir is as large as the serpent will ever be (sans a mutation).

"You are tiny." Is the only thing Fafnir can think to say in response.

It's true, both fae - one sibling, one parent, are completely trumped by Fafnir in size. The serpent already feels a surge of protection for them within. With the spell, Samael will be able to feel it. The confusion, the sudden awareness of being alive again. A strange feeling, one that Fafnir will have to get used to with time.

Samael speaks, and Fafnir turns to listen. Taking in knowledge of the world around and the words the fae are saying. It is hard, but Fafnir makes do. The words come out a poem, something that Fafnir has to translate inside to understand but does come eventually.

"I... Could not hear before." The answer will probably sadden Samael, but Fafnir is honest. "Do we have a surname?" The one thing Fafnir picked up on, of course.

"I will be Fafnir." The word came to the serpent from somewhere. Does it have a meaning? Regardless, it is Fafnir's now.

Mirrikh glanced towards Samael with a sort of curiosity. "Are we 'tiny'?" they inquired. They were uncertain if they were unusually small or their sibling was unusually large. The answer was both, but they did not know that yet.

Their father speaks a lot of words that sound like a nonsense to them, before concluding with words that make sense at last. Samael cares for his two children. Why could Samael not just come right out and say that?

Fafnir, they thought, seemed quite the sensible sibling so far. Fafnir spoke honestly, regardless of feelings, at least that was what Mirrikh thought.

Or perhaps Mirrikh was just annoyed at the wordiness of their father's nature, which they did not understand. So they appreciated Fafnir in comparison.

Even if Samael was wordy and Fafnir turned out different than they thought, Mirrikh had already gained a fondness for the two. This was their wordy father and their odd giant sibling.

Mirrikh's scaled tail flicked about in a very feline way.

The confusion of being faced with the world, yet the urge to protect was strong in this one, he recognized before the spell faded. It was a feeling that Samael remembered feeling for his childhood friend, yet different in feel a bit. Hopefully, this one would not leave his life like his friend had.

Truth be told, Samael does not mind overly much that they all could not hear him. It was more of a comfort for himself as well as a way to stay connected, despite the not-hatching. "It is alright. I will happily read to you and teach you to read, if you would like, now that you are awake," he comforted his child easily.

"I did not have a surname when I hatched, but I think I would know one now, if any of you wish to take it on," he spoke, a word springing into his mind when he thought of their shared rings that he would gift them. All were based around light. So that made them... "Lucifari, I believe, if you wish to use that surname, it is welcome to you all." Instead of saying both, he still thought of the three children collectively, for all that the third had not hatched.

"Fafnir is a good name," Samael warmly told his child. "I like it."

Mirrikh's question provoked a warm laugh from Samael despite his focus on his newly hatched child's emotions and his own reminscing earlier. "We are tiny compared to other greater gembounds, Mirrikh, yes. Yet Fafnir is also very large compared to most greater gembounds, as well," he told the two awake children.

"That does not make us harmless, however. Like me, you are likely a carnivore, Mirrikh. I am unsure of your own diet, Fafnir. Both of you may have inherited my paralysis toxin, and hopefully the immunity to it as well. Fafnir, you have your other parent's magic. Mirrikh, you may have an additional toxin that causes 'Stonerot'. It is very dangerous, and cannot be healed even by returning to sleep within a chrysalis. It is important to be aware of one's own capabilities," he explained.

"Speaking of capabilities, I have gifts for you both," he spoke. There were the rings to give, after all. "I have these for you, pick which one you would like. I obtained them prior to your hatching, as gifts especially for you all. I hope you all like them. Their abilities are related to light or a lack of it," he explained.

Samael would hold on to the remaining two, of course.
