Hey all, figured it was about time I put together an official plotter for my characters. I probably won't be able to do more than replies and the quest thread until Monday but no time like the present to get ideas rolling. Without further ado here are the characters on the list:
He whose life was forever changed by the dreaded death crawler
Xireidi
Protagonist-type
After starting off life in a weakened state with untold amounts of nerve damage Xireidi, through relentless training, has pulled himself to a place of strength. His memories of emergence are hopelessly blurred, and as a side effect of this he deeply (and almost certainly wrongly) believes in the existence of an eldritch horror of shadow and flame.
One of Xireidi's primary drives is to keep the caves safe, whether that be from his imagined threat or a very real one. Possible plots that could stem from this range from gaining friends and allies, assisting in actions that could be percieved as protecting others, or accidentally starting his own cult/brigade.
At the moment Xireidi's connection with the magic in his gem (and thus his birth personality) is sealed from the hibernation. He need only activate his magic again to reawaken it but he has had no cause thus-far. As a warning; if he ever activates the "recover" spell things could end up getting... interesting. If anyone wants to instigate cause for him using magic, either through attacking him or offering to help him practice magic, this could make for an interesting story.
In general Xireidi is my most versatile character, so if you have any plots of your own you'd like someone in feel free to give me a poke :)
Green wallcrawlers; typically harmless until they released a fearful being who knows no morals
Yuma
Antagonist-type
I feel like my wife described Yuma best when she said he's like an eternal child; he doesn't seem to quite understand that other people have a personal consciousness and views the world in a way alien to most adults. His moral compass isn't broken, it was made without a needle in the first place.
Yuma, having originally existed as a companion NPC in a D&D game, can act as a decent minion for good or evil. He is questionably effective as good masters have to remind him that certain actions are antithetical to how a productive member of society should behave and he is liable to forget orders from evil masters and do his own thing. If you have a character that could use (or you want to curse with) such a servant Yuma is a good option.
While not immensely strong at the moment Yuma can act as a good antagonist character for just about anyone. He is seemingly an agent of chaos who will play up the role of villain if he feels he is seen that way.
Rainbow bumblebugs flit around a small fire agate, wherein rests a new life waiting to meet the world
Zeno
Intellectual-type
Zeno's story has yet to be told, but it will hopefully be one full of self discovery and investigation into the mysteries of the caves.
Any kind of intellectual characters would be wonderful for Zeno to meet, perhaps push him in the direction of things to investigate or even take him on as a pupil
Having been born without an external gem he has a great interest in others who do have them. This can be exploited as he doesn't mind helping with simple tasks or obtaining outside information in order to hear more about the lives of those who have interesting gems.
On his own Zeno is likely to try to be fairly independent, but that doesn't mean he can't be without friends or antagonists. If anyone wants to fill in one of thse roles or has other ideas feel free to post.
Born into darkness amidst a swirling vortex where no small creature dares to go.
Amras
Mage-type
Amras is set to be inquisitive like Zeno, but significantly more grounded in the world. He wants to get out there, have fun, see what he can do with magic, and learn everything practical he can about the art. Some of his early plotlines will likely involve exploring the cave looking for odds and ends that he can use with his magic in different ways and coming up with on-the-fly competitive games to play with whoever he meets.
Though magic is naturally an interest to him, other influences to set him firmly into different areas of magical exploration would work well
Sparring partners! Or racing buddies. Or people to throw darts with. Or people to figure out how to make a dart board in the first place and what to throw at it even. Really anyone who may or may not be taking themselves too seriously and need to have some fun.
Adventurers would be great exploration partners as he searches for "spell components" and containers to put them in. Want to explore a dilapidated building? A dark side tunnel where there might be new minerals? The dwelling of that one strange gembound who totally doesn't know we're in here?
