Sebastian perked up as the other confirmed he'd been right, glad to have done something correctly. He'd been usefull! A low purr rumbled in his throat, proud to have helped Rift in any way.

He nodded at the other's words, instinctively mimicking his pose. Shoulders hunched, stomach close to the floor, and tail low. His paws, oversized like any cub's, were almost silent on the dirt floor, the cub being careful.

When Rift addressed him, the cub nodded, not trusting himself to speak quietly. Even without sniffing, he could make out the scent of a... something. His keen ears could make out a racing heartbeat, and he salivated instinctively.

He picked up on the other's signal, and looked ahead, seeing a small brown rabbit nibbling at some plants. His stomach grumbled, and his claws dug into the soil. Following the other's order, he stalked forward slowly, keeping an eye on the rabbit's body language.

Once he was close enough, he'd leap, landing on the rabbits back. His fangs sunk into the back of the rabbit's skull, feeling the bone give beneath his powerful fangs. The rabbt went limp under him, and he could taste blood, making his stomach grin. He turned back to Rift, dragging over the freshly-killed rabbit, a proud bounce to his step.

Rift was impressed with Sebastian's technique. With only a little practice, the younger cub would easily surpass him. Then again, Rift didn't exactly value himself as an expert hunter. He was good enough to keep himself fed, but he wasn't a genius.

He watched with pride as the little cub sprang and landed squarly on the rabbit's back. A good aim as well. And the swift bite was all he needed to end it. His first kill, perfectly executed.

His tail was held high, the tip twitching with happiness as he bounded over to Sebastian's side. "Congratulations! That was perfect!" He was delighted that his new friend was already doing so well. He bent down to sniff the rabbit carefully. It was a nice plump one. With their sizes, they could probably share it and still be full.

He nudged the little cub playfully. "You deserve the honor of first taste."

Welcome to the Black Parade Sebastian tagged

The cub grinned as he felt the rabbit go limp beneath his teeth, almost pulling his head down. The rabbit was as big as he was, maybe even somewhat bigger, most definitely a good first kill. He stepped back from the kill, rough tongue flicking out to get some of the blood off of his dark black fur. He'd need to clean better later, but for now it would work.


He looked up at the older Puma as Rift approached, puffing up proudly, his tail lashing behind him. A low rumble built in the cub's chest as he watched Rift sniff at the rabbit. He didn't hesitate to tear into the rabbit at the other's words, taking a bite from its plump side. Sebastian made a startled sound, eyes going wide, as he tasted meat and blood for the first time, igniting something in his blood.

Having taken the first bite, the cub would move over so that Rift could get in, before tearing into its haunches.

Rift watched with amusement at Sebastian's reaction to the rabbit. He had done something similar when he had first tasted meat. Juicy, warm, fresh, and tasty. While rabbits weren't his favorite meal, it certainly was a good one.

He leaned down and tore a chunk off the side, savoring the flavor. This one was plump off of sweet leaves and grasses and the flavor seeped into its meat. Delicious.

He took a couple more bites before backing away for the younger cub to eat his fill. He was satiated for now. While he didn't quite fill himself up, he wanted Sebastian to savor more of the rabbit, as it was his catch and, most importantly, his first one.

"What do you think? Isn't it yummy?" he asked, his eyes glimmering.

Sebastian tore into the rabbit, finding he enjoyed the give of flesh, sinew, muscle and bone tearing away under his fangs. The meat was pleasantly sweet, and some instinct told him that it wasn't normally, or at least usually, so, so this would be a rare treat.

His ears twitched as the older Puma began to eat as well, crouching beside him to tear into the flank of the rabbit. Meat and bone gave under the strong jaws, and the cub shifted to the side to allow him more room to feed.

The other finished quickly and, seeing his larger frame, he couldn't help but wonder if he had eaten his fill. But, soon, the cub's own small stomach was full, and he backed away from the carcass, licking the blood from his lips. He could see blood on the other's tawny muzzle, and knew his own must be the same. Realizing this wasn't terribly efficient, he began to lick his paws, before using them to groom his muzzle.

"Very!" he would agree, nodding his head enthusiastically.

Rift nodded with agreement. There was nothing like a fresh, warm meal, especially one so tasty as that rabbit. Maybe he had to reconsider his meal favorites. He noticed that there were still a few scraps left on the bones. He leaned down and licked up what was left, feeling satisfied at the way his tongue picked the meat and blood clean until the bones were white and bare. He licked what he could off his lips before doing the same as Sebastian, cleaning his muzzle.

Since he hadn't eaten nearly as much as the younger cub, his face wasn't nearly as hard to clean and he finished grooming himself before the young cat. After a moment watching him, he noticed that the cub's fur had gotten a little messy during the hunt so he stood and stepped over, taking a good spot in front of him before lying down and leaning over to groom his pelt.

He licked with long strokes down the side of the puma's flank, catching a few shredded leaves and rabbit fur that had gotten caught, as well as clean out bits of dirt and smooth down the fur. While he did this, he murmured to the cat between licks, "I'm very proud of you."

Affection swirled in his heart. He meant it - he was so proud of how much Sebastian had did in just the first few hours of his life. He was going to grow up to be a fine hunter and a great cat.

Welcome to the Black Parade Sebastian tagged

The cub licked his paws, getting them nice and wet before cleaning his messy muzzle. While doing so, he watched as Rift licked clean the rabbit's skeleton, eating and licking until the bones shined white and clean. Then he did the same as the black-furred puma cub, cleaning himself off as well.

The other seemed to clean himself much more quickly, and he looked up to see the larger Puma approaching. Rift laid down before him, and he tilted his head curiously, wondering what he was doing.

But then, the older Puma began to lick his messy black pelt. A low purr rumbled in his chest as he allowed Rift to clean his fur, getting some rabbit down and leaves from it. His eyes widened as Rift said he was proud of him, and he purred louder, twisting to lick the other's cheek. "Thank you!"

Rift felt the cub's gentle tongue on his cheek and he smiled. He suddenly felt that he never wanted to leave. Well, at least, never leave Seb's side. He looked at the cub fondly and wondered what would happen after this. They had become friends, that was obvious. So what would they do now? Part ways? He didn't like the thought. In the short time he had known him, Rift realized that he loved him like he was his own brother. He didn't want to leave him just yet.

As he finished cleaning Sebastian's pelt, he wondered how the cub would react. Would he be scared? Happy? Would he refuse? He took a deep breath and decided to ask.

"I was wondering, would you like to come with me? I'm wandering right now, but I've got a home in Eridanus - its a room with a lot of plants. We could stick together. Living alone can get a bit boring."

THREAD TITLE Sebastian tagged

The Puma cub purred, allowing himself to lick the others cheek. He didn't have any blood left on his face, so there wasn't anything for him to clean. But he wanted to return the other's kind gesture, so a small bristled tongue ran through rough fur.


Feeling the older Puma stop, Sebastian did as well, tilting his head up at Rift. What was he thinking? He couldn't read his face. The other seemed almost... nervous?


A home? He wanted him to share his home? The cub, grinned, and licked Rift's cheek again. "I'd love to!"

Rift smiled with happiness. He was excited that the cub had decided to come with him. He had grown fond of him and was excited to share his home with him. However, it was a long way to Eridanus. He wasn't sure he was ready to get moving just yet. He looked up from Sebastian and started searching the walls for a sheltered area.

"Well, we should probably find a place to rest first. We can get moving when we wake up." He walked towards the side of the tunnel, but didn't find an alcove or small cave anywhere, so he just settled himself on some soft grasses, looking at Sebastian for his response.
