In Eridanus, it is common to see flowers. In a dark spot, under a tree, however, it seems no flowers grow...

Except one.

The small flower, pink in color, glows softly, almost as if it were magic. It is unlike any that has grown in the caves before, with a delicate stem and soft, bell-shaped flower. A passing gembound may notice its flicker and decide to check it out.

Egahi spent another day hunting, eager to fill her belly up. Not that she really needed it; she'd been eating rather well since birth. Regardless, she found herself stalking after a young cave rat, watching and feeling it's every move. Unfortunately, when she struck out, she missed. As her prey scurried off, she laid in place, tongue flicking. Damn. Imperfection.

She turned to slither off, when something bright captured a spot in her eye. She froze, waiting for it to come back. The bright pink glow brightened again and she lifted her head, then moved toward it. Egahi hadn't expected a flower, but was not disappointed. It was pretty. She stood up to the flower's height, looking over it. It appealed to her, tongue flicking outward to capture a sent. Her tongue brushed against the soft pedals, unblinking eyes gazing upon it as she lowered herself toward the ground again. Interesting. Perfection.

The flower tastes (smells?) sweet and... like something else...?

Sweetness. Something that was very different from the iron flavor of blood that she was accustom to. The scent of it made the chemicals in her head swirl pleasantly. What else was special about this little plant? She slithered a little closer and peeked up into the hanging bell.

The scent swirls in Egahi's head, evoking feelings of RAGE! The next gembound Egahi sees, she will become completely enraged with! This effect will last a minimum of this thread, but you may let it last as long as you like.

The flower begins to wither.

Any gembound may also come investigate the flower. They may get other effects, but the next gembound Egahi sees will have to feel her wrath.

The black dog was running though the brush, her ears were now standing up high on their own and no longer flopping about with each jump. She was growing into a strong young canine, coat a glossy black; almost iridescent in the light of the green room. Pushing past some ferns, she spotted something up ahead. That's strange. Noticing how there was a lack of flowers, with just a single one growing. The gem on the back of her neck hummed and soon a warmth radiated off of her. It was as if she was glowing, feeling a heat in her belly. All of the orifices of her body began to glow with a low light. In the dark, it would seem like there was a fire burning deep inside and maybe there was. This was new for Nova and the warmth felt strange. Like when I warm the air . . but inside myself. Coming closer to the flower, she began to inspect it until something white flashed in the corner of her violet eye. Turning to notice a little white snake in the grass. "Do you speak?" Unsure if they were a gembound like herself or one of those snakes that dwell in the cave. --------- "Speech" Thoughts OOC: wish her luck!

The serpent stared blankly, something within feeling unnatural. Anger bubbled up for a reason beyond her own mind. She scooted away from the flower, settling against the ground as she mentally attempted to grasp what exactly had just... happened. So lost in thought, she actually missed the approach of the canine, but definitely did not miss the vibrations as she came within mere feet of the snake.

Without a thought or miss of beat, Egahi swung herself around and stood a third of her two foot body upward. Her hood flared out instantly and she hissed out, the noise sounding more like an angered dog than a scaly snake. She flicked her tongue once, then opened her mouth to hiss again, letting her fangs stretch a little in warning, which was pointless, as she was uncontrollably enraged.

Coils wrapped around a little, stabilizing the upper body of the young king. More hissing and a false strike, followed by more hissing. The dog was too close. The dog was here at the wrong time. Her mouth began to open a little, then a real strike came, mouth swinging open and fangs extending with full intent to bite the mammal before her.

The black dog should have known better, to have been so close to the creature. After all, Nova was practically standing in their personal bubble. Though, she wasn't the best at seeing such things when her curiosity got the better of her. It wasn't until the white snake rose up out of the grass, did she realize she done fucked up. Oh . . . Ears winded when they went from a little snake so something impressive. Backing up, she attempted to move out of the way. "Hey . . I'm sorry for bothering you but . . ." Her gem humming again, but something was wrong. As she attempted to leap out of the way, she wouldn't go far and a sharp pain struck her on the knee. "SHIT!" That fucking hurt! Instantly the glowing from her torchlight went out like a blown-out-candle and the dog hit the floor. What the hell was that! Nova struggled back into her feet, ears pinned back and tail was tucked. Trying her best to crawl away from the little viper. Where she was bit, it began to sting. --------- "Speech" Thoughts OOC: words words

Cayenne was actually off her path for once, interested in wandering aimlessly through her forest home instead of setting on a blind and mechanical path to gather herbs like she'd done countless times. She knew that this place once held a breathless wonder for her before it became a resource for her healing and a stressor where her friends got hurt, and she wanted to --

Oh, well, nevermind, there was the screaming and hissing and loud voices of pain and of struggle. Right on cue, All Mother. Her heart did a funny flip flop of disappointment verses fear and she ran with her hands on her backpack straps towards the sounds, her gut twisting, her mouth set with the same old determination.

She parted the leaves and saw a buffet of drama; a snake ready to strike and a dog shivering and crawling away from them, ears pinned back in fear. "Hey!" She shouted to the snake, running to the dog. "Get away from her!"

She placed a hand on the pup's leg, gave her a glance, then glared at the snake, her tiny little fangs bared. With her magic she gave a quick look and found the tiny little poisoned bite under the fur, glowing a sickly green to her eyes, and she hissed at the snake, "Back off!"

Egahi stared down the dog, hissing continuing as Nova tried to get out of her reach. More false strikes, just before her attention was diverted. She saw movement and leaned back a little, eyes falling upon an equally-black lemur. Her temper dissolved as long as her eyes remained on Cayenne, her hood sinking down and body lowering as she registered what exactly happened through memory. She looked back to the dog and felt her rage explode again, sending her back up and hood out.

Cayenne shouting helped, drawing her attention back away from the dog. She settled down, staring at the lemur without a single tongue flick as it all swirled within her. What has happened? What have I done? She shook her head, wishing she could squeeze her eyes shut as her prey did when being swallowed alive. Egahi retreated a little, adding space between herself and the mammals.

"I... I am sorry, I..." She glanced at Nova, trying to see the slowly rotting leg, hood coming back before she looked back to Cayenne. "This is not... me. I am not... this. I am too rational. Too reasonable." She looked at the flower and this time, gave a very purposeful and direct hiss. "One moment... I was gazing... the next, I was blinded by... rage."

Egahi looked back at Cayenne, then Nova, then Cayenne, feeling so disheartened by these waves of emotion. Imperfection. Such imperfection. What is wrong? Why? The snake flattened herself to the ground, trying to focus specifically on Cayenne so she would not lose her mind, for whatever reason.
