Bevy blinked as the innocent little baby bird asked her a question that made her heart still and her eyes fog over. What made her happy? So many things made her happy. The owlet did, Cancer did... Maji Walezi... She suddenly felt all the eyes on her drew her wings in to her sides and focused her eyes on his face, trying to ignore the stares from all around.

Oh... "Maji Walezi makes me happy. My home by the waterfall, all my friends. When I was born I was so scared and alone, but the goodness of other Gembounds made me feel safe and give me hope. I've never forgotten the kindness of strangers and I always... As long as I can show that kindness in turn, I'm happy, little one."

Her voice grew soft, shyness drawing her away from speaking too loudly. "I'm happy when I see all my friends happy together, when we all stand around just like this... And just share in each other's company. It makes me so happy... " She couldn't bare say much more-- because Leon had left and that in itself made her sad... But the answer was true, the answer was wholey true and she, for a moment, felt bittersweet.

"That was a lovely question, little one," she told him in her gentle sing-song momma birb tone, touching her beak to his carefully as she plucked the crystal from his talons. "Thank you."

With that, she carefully hop-flapped to the middle and placed the crystal down, giving it a spin.

The fennec fox pricked her ears as she watched the group of Gembounds play the game. The lively fledgling wanted to join in too. She jumped out of Cancer’s pouch and onto his furry back, granting her a live, furry podium. When the colourful bird was spoke, Quix found herself nodding along. Maji Walezi…that was where she wanted to belong too. Cancer was there, Fisher was there. And now this adorable poison birb which she wanted to get her paws all over. She looked so cuddly, except the sharp beak.

Large, powder blue eyes focused wistfully on the shard. It spun and pointed towards her! The girl jumped over the black leopard’s head to land in front of the crystal. Nary had one seen such an overly enthusiastic player. She tilted her head, thinking about what she wanted. And then, she knew.

”Dare.” The little fennec looked at Bevy expectantly and wagged her fluffy tail.

O-oh! Who was this little cub? She was so tiny! Bevy couldn't help but like her-- not many gembounds were as small as she was and minus the ears, Quix could have almost been as itsy bitsy as she was. With a bright smile, the cute fox picked dare before she could even ask-- and well. Dare it was.

"Alright, sweetie," she chirped, remembering for a moment that this little thing had come from Cancer? of all places and was probably going to be a new member of Maji Walezi, wasn't she! "I dare you to..." Bevy looked around, her eyes picking out a bright yellow fruit on one of the trees not too far away. She had a vague memory of the sharp, sour fruit that she had tried once. It would be funny to watch someone else try to eat it, that was for sure.

"Aha!" She quickly took flight and flew over, pecking the lemon free from the tree-- it hit the ground with a thump and rolled a little towards the group. She landed next to it, waving a wing at the cute fox to get her attention. "I dare you to try and eat his fruit! Don't worry, it's perfectly edible." With that, she flew back over to Dark, her baby, and settled down to watch the fun and games.

The girl wiggled her tail enthusiastically as the bird acknowledged her. She couldn’t wait! ”Yes? Yes?” she quipped as Bevy looked around for something suitable. Tons of possibilities rolled in the young fox’s mind. Would she get to hunt mice, or terrorize some Gembound here like Cancer? Quix shifted her paws in anticipation as the poison bird gave an ”Aha!” and swooped in to select some fruit. ”What is it?” she asked curiously. Bevy explained, and the girl grinned. True to her species, fennec foxes were opportunistic eaters and right now, there was a helpless lemon ready to be exploited by her!

Quix had never seen lemon. With an enthusiasm, she scrambled over, tiny claws clicking on the ground. The fox adeptly lifted her straggly paws and attempted to pry open the fruit. It wasn’t very effective. She lowered her head and opened her little jaws wide, attempting to sink her sharp canines through the fruit. It worked. The skin and white parts left a bitter taste in her tongue. ”Bleah.” She commented, attempting to scrape the icky taste off her tongue by licking her fur (not the most hygenic of children). Soon, the lemon cracked open and by this time, bits of lemon juice were oozing from the puncture marks.

Without thinking, the brave girl sank her teeth and chewed off half the lemon. Immediately, the sour tang burst in her mouth and the girl winced. It was so SOUR! ACK. Instinct told her to spit it out. But then, the girl looked around and realized that everyone was looking. She had to be brave! She chewed into the pulp, cringing with each bite, and when it was all mushed up she swallowed the pulp. It stung at first but the after taste was good. A slow sweetness crept over her taste buds as the pulp got digested into her belly. ”It’s…sour Bevy! Really really sour at first but, it tastes nice afterwards.” Still, there was half a lemon left on the floor. Um…”Lemon too big for Quix’s tummy. But Quix did dare!”

The girl smiled, immensely pleased with herself. Sour, but with a sweet after taste. It wasn’t all that bad at the end. She trotted to the remaining half piece of lemon, grapsed it with her little teeth and deposited it in front of Cancer. She then looked at him, large blue eyes innocently meeting the black leopard cub’s. ”Why don’t you do the other half of the dare you fat leopard.” She wriggled her furry butt, hoping he’d oblige her.

She then spun the shard and waited to see where it would land.

The shard did not land on Dark, but that didn't stop him from hopping over and poking it with his feet mid-spin. He then raced back to Bevy as if this were the point of the game, his chirps sounding almost like giggles.

"Madjy-Walzy," he parroted--badly--peering blindly up at his "mother" bird. This apparently made her happy, and something called waterfalls, and other Gembound. He hissed thoughtfully, clicked his beak, quickly grasped her foot with his talons in gentle acknowledgement (he'd learned not to touch her feathers, simply because she drew away if he tried--this didn't really bother him)--and then turned back to the crystal.

With the high energy of one very young, he fluffed out ALL of his feathers, stood proud and tall and practically shrieked, "TRUTH!"

It wasn't his turn, and he probably wasn't meaning to take one, either--just shouting a word he'd just heard with the joyous abandon of a child. He then started hopping about, not really realizing that he was in the middle of a game, and a lot of other Gembounds; he felt no shame. He couldn't see them, couldn't see that they would all be looking toward the crystal that he now leapt around and over.

And he didn't care! He just kept quietly chirp-squawking the same word, over and over.

"Truth! Truth! Truth! Truth!"

Poor Bevy had her claws full.

It was amusing to her to watched the wolf complete her dare by kissing the stag's cheek. Both of them were intensely embarrassed and it was a bit fun. However, with every passing moment shew as remembering Leon and the events that were transpiring. How could she sit here enjoying herself when her best friend was so upset? She'd done her part by keeping the game going. The smiles on the other gembounds faces were proof of that. However, deep within her own soul she was unhappy. She could no longer ignore it and she wanted nothing more to do with it. The guilt for having done nothing to help Leon when even now she could feel his misery was just too much. Her heart wasn't in the game anymore.

With a sigh she turned to Majesty and Amaria and whispered, "I think I'm going to go..." With a dip of her head to the pair she turned to Cancer. She was going to use her telepathy on him but it appeared that even her magic was uncooperative with her right now. So she simply said, "I'm heading out... gonna go back to Pisces early." With that, she turned to head towards the exit. Excusing herself from the game.

The shard spun and pointed to another Gembound. Suddenly, a young, cute, fluffy owl hopped over and disturbed it. He then went back squawking with pride, “Truth!” It was…SO CUTE! The little fennec fox squealed with delight and gave a couple of yips, clearly caught up in the game that this blind owl was playing. She loved his enthusiasm. He was an odd one, oblivious to his surroundings. She could tell he wasn’t seeing anything. And that, all the more, endeared the fox to him. If only she could snuggle and squish him in her paws…

“Truth it is, birby!’ she called her, her high tones. Now, what was a good question for this bird? What would make him even brighter than he already was? “I know I know!” the little fox quipped. “What is your…talent! Yes, what is your special talent! What can birby do?” she yipped enthusiastically and wagged her tail all in anticipation of the bird’s reply.

Do? What can I do? Am I Birby...? Is that my name? Do?

Dark froze as Quix spoke--not in fear, but in startled thought. What could he do? OH! Oh, he knew! He turned, and hop-hop-bounced over toward the voice, gently bouncing into her. He fluffed up his feathers and chirped cheerfully, then reached out one taloned foot slowly to show her. He was slow, demonstrating clearly that he meant no harm, lifting the foot and lightly resting it on her shoulder, as if to reassure her. Then he focused on her, on this link he was trying to forge, and on his ability.

This time, in a good mood and safe company, his magic welled forth without problems. No terrifying cacophony, just the strange image of the brown thick weasel creature stalking a large, black mouse. What was "black?" He paused at this, baffled at the idea of color, but then he could see a tan thing with huge ears curled up on the brown thing's back. The tan thing had blue horns, and Dark began to chirp excitedly.

"Dark brown. Light-brown on it. Blue horns! Blue eyes! RAT! BLACK-BLACK RAT!

Dark dropped the crystal at Quix's paws, briefly nuzzled into the tan fur he'd just seen, then danced away, spinning and hopping, flapping little flightless wings. He had seen them! That was this thing with fur! Black! Brown! Blue! There were colors!

He left the crystal with Quix and bumbled back out of the circle's center, leaving it open for the next players.

The owl came over slowly. Quix looked at it with a chubby grin plastered over her features. He was so cute! She wanted to squish him all over with her teensy paws! However, when he lifted his leg, she knew she’d better refrain from aggravating him. Though young, the owl’s talons were sharp. Quix wasn’t scared though! She knew the owl was only trying to be a friend and answer her question as it came hopping over. The fennec was already short and small, so she stayed put as the owl gripped onto her shoulder comfortably. She looked into his blank dark green eyes and thought them one of the most mesmerising, purest things which she had ever seen.

She gave a yip of surprise as he read her past! He was so cool! She wriggled her tail furiously and spoke after he did. “Yes! Yes! Quix ride Fisher and catch black mice! Quix has blue horns!” She was so excited. The owl could see through her memories! The poofy thing then nuzzled her as though he were thanking her for her memories. She chuffed gently and nuzzled his lil poofy head back, and watched him clamber away. She had hoped to be a friend of his. Perhaps she would be able to meet him soon!

Tired from the exertion, the fennec yawned and went back to Cancer, and slipped into his bag. The ball of fur had exhausted her energy. Slowly she drifted off to sleep.

-Exit Quix-

It seemed like all the gembounds had been having plenty of fun, but most of them seemed to be either getting bored or sleepy. Wynry found himself even yawning a little, and his eyes flashed to meet Vazi's... Perhaps it was about time that he call it quits. He trotted up to the crystal, putting his hoof over it, and then he realized that the lioness-- Makyna-- had left without her crystal. She had brought it to spin and she had left without it!

Looking around in panic at everyone, he tried to play it off, y'know, play it cool. With a laugh as Quix returned to Cancer to curl up an sleep, the lamb's ears wobbled every which way. "Alright, I think that's enough play for today! I should get this back to miss 'Kyaa. I promise we'll all play again soon, okay? Thank you all for coming!

He wagged his tiny stump of a tail, bowing to the group before picking up the crystal in his teeth. He looked back at Vazi, tilting his head, hoping that his friend wouldn't mind running off to go after the lioness-- of course, little did he know that it was actually Cancer's crystal all along, and he would probably take it off of his hooves, so to speak.

Either way, it was definitely time for a nap, so now that the game was over, he was happy to excuse himself. He knew he had to do this again-- it was super fun, even with the slightly weird drama that had happened in the middle.
