Bevy was surprised at how much energy the little owl had. She wasn't really surprised by his excitement anymore-- almost everything set him off into a bundle of curious, bouncing feathers. Thankfully this mother bird didn't find it annoying when he went off repeating Bevy bevy bevy or Truth truth truth. To her it was endearing, precious even.
... Now Makyna was leaving. The bird had almost gotten over Leon leaving, but now she really wished she wasn't there. She wanted everyone to go home so she could have them all safe in the comfort of the waterfall, where she could tell them all that she loved them very much and that everything would be okay. Her eyes wandered to Cancer, wishing she had the words and courage to go over and speak with him about all of this.
Relief came to her when the lamb-- what a sweet boy-- called the game to a close. She returned her gaze to Dark and hopped over, letting out a small wordless chirp to get his attention. "Let's go, little one. Bevy wants to go home now," she told him softly, hoping for some strange reason that she would be able to sneak out without Cancer calling her out and asking for them to go home together. Maybe she didn't want to hold him up with Dark-- but it was more likely that she was feeling strained. Things had become so difficult... She didn't have the energy to stay bright and cheerful for the baby owl and try to keep things together.
She just wanted to push thoughts of her friendships fracturing before her far, far to the back of her mind and just focus on the one little spark of light in her light. The owl would keep her going, even if it was just for going's sake.
