oops i gave in. heads-up that i have no idea if i'll be able to be consistently active on this character or not but... i really do like the design....
OOC Name | Fracture!
Character Name | Lamassu
False Name | Eyes of Gossamer
Gender | ....yes (genderfluid, he/she/they)
Stone Location | Multiple, star-shaped protrusions over his forehead in the shape of something like a tiara or a circlet; the second-to-last stars on either side of the tiara are the biggest and grow outwards at an angle, curving in on themselves in small but sharp hooks to allow fabric to be hung from them. (intending for them to be anchor points for a veil later)
Personality | It is a shame that the physical form is so... solid, is it not? So immutable, so unchanging—the lack of variety grates at him.
Mellifluous and mercurious, Lamassu embodies change. There is nothing he despises more than the stillness of a silence, the solidity of a rock wall, the—the laziness of one at rest. It is life to be constantly moving. It is beauty to always be changing, as the bird molts its feathers and as paint starts bright and fades and is painted on again.
He loves hard, and fast, but there's also a bit of a perfectionistic streak within him. It's an oxymoron, in a sense—he is confident and proud, even as a child, even bordering arrogant,, but the works of others and the works of nature and the works of himself are seen as something that constantly requires tweaking. That cave wall, right there—so boring, so dull! It requires an artist's talon, a set of keen eyes, to truly become the thing that is hidden inside it!
In a sense, a slightly unhinged artist. His specialties later in life will be fabric-weaving and flesh-sculpting; a virtuoso of the silk, yes, but of the body as well. A tailor and a transhumanist (transgemboundist?), so to speak.
Suffers from bouts of body dysphoria and obsessively 'changes' himself, whether it be painting, finding pretty things to wear, or just tripping on hallucinogens. Will pluck out his own feathers on particularly bad days, but will not self-harm further than that, as I don't want to write something quite on that level of 'dark'.
RP Sample | A new day, a new life, a new dream to work! Ah, but Eridanus is one of the most beautiful of the caves; not quite reaching Gemini's twisting, reflective beauty, the crystals in all their forms, but what Gemini lacks in its color palette Eridanus makes up for in spades.
There is an insect flitting above him. A butterfly, a pretty-fly, a fly-by—oh, how its wings flutter and shine in the wind! Truly, one of the few perfect things in the caves.
He wonders how many wings he'd need for a cape. Or, no—a skirt with a bustle, starting over his tailfeathers, flowing over him, glittering in the wind as he moves, flies, pretty pretty pretty!
He would need many butterflies, however. How many butterflies would he need for it? A hundred? Two hundred? Too many to count on chitinous talons, he thinks.
Perhaps he will only take one, as reference. Take silk, weave it, make it into sheets, many thin sheets, layered over each other and painted like wings! Yes, good, good, he can see it coming together in his mind's eye... now all he needs is one.
Talons dig into the ground, flexing against the soil—preparing for flight. Wings tense and rise from his silhouette, white pupils flicking up, fixated on the little insect, fluttering in the wind with all the naivety of a newborn—
—leap! His wings beat against the air, fluttering, as he lunges up for that beautiful insect, lips parting to snap at the pretty little thing...
...only to close on air. He lands hard in the dirt, crushing a few plants beneath his feet; carnation eyes watch the butterfly flutter away with a kind of startled confusion—why didn't he catch it? Surely, he was fast enough to catch it?
It's getting away—no, wait, come back! "You are too fast!" A half-frustrated murmur beneath his breath as he bursts into a sprint, running after the butterfly like a Gembound on a mission. One beat, two, and then he disappears into the foliage, both butterfly and faerie gone from the scene.
