In Monoceros, winds whip at the ground. Much of the ground is barren and fruitless, the gorges deep and lifeless except for the howling wind.

In one of the deepest gorges, something glows at the bottom. A dainty, pink flower sprouts, unwavering in the strong wind. It stands, oddly still, emitting a soft pink glow.

The large hybrid had yet to explore anywhere but her precious home. Trotting around the various caves that belonged to both her mother and her other mother...or aunt she wasn't quite sure. Anyway, she was an excited thing, trotting around farther and farther with each passing day. Until finally she built up the courage, or well persuaded her loving family to let her learn on her own. Taking a small journey in the barren and fruitless land of Monoceros that was her home.

Rocks, rocks and more rocks. Well at least all these rocks came in different shapes and sizes! Some even peculiar colors! She loved all the rocks really, especially the few she had managed to gather to bring back to show her mother. Though holding onto them was another thing...nudging them along the floor it was pretty difficult to not have them roll every which way! Especially since she wasnt going to put them all in her mouth, what if she swallowed one!?

Mind preoccupied with fickle thoughts as to WHY this course of transportation was the best idea she let two of the precious stones roll away! Straight from her grasp and over the gorge's edge! A peculiar sound of exclamation she stared into the deep gorge, sulking at the loss of the pretty pretty stones. At least until something beautiful caught her eyes! It was pink and glowing! She would have to explore right away!

Carefully trotting beside the gorge's edge she soon located another ledge a little bit below her that allowed her to descend into the area. Though this took quite a bit of time it was the safest way. Finding ledge after ledge she eventually reached the bottom using these natural stairs, ohboy would her mother be proud! With wide curious eyes filled with wonder and excitement she began her walk towards this peculiar glowing item. Quickly closing the distance on this interesting thing that soon came to light that it was a flower! And a beautiful one at that! Even with all the winds in Monoceros it remained unwavered, peacefully glowing. Though it was strange, a flower thriving in such a fruitless environment that was Monoceros.

Though this strangeness soon faded into excitement. It was just like her! Strange and abnormal and living against all odds! What a beautiful flower!

She would protect it.

The marmoset scurried in from the edges, only slightly illumninated by the light crystals due to his tendency to keep to the 'boulders'. He wasn't cautious, per say, just the light gave him a headache, considering how much time he'd spent cooped up in tunnels. It was because of this, however, that any sight sound or smell automatically caught his attention. The pink glowy flower was one of these things and he squinted at it from afar, "H-how strange! An improvement t-to this place methinks!."

Fritz didn't have much self-control and was urged to scamper forward and approach the glow to ease his curiosities. He leapt forward in the effort to descend down to the gorge. He continued on this path, scaling the gorge using his claws and tail. Well, that was until he saw the movement of Hestia. It didn't take him long for his attentions and motive to change, and he quickly moved to the direction of Hestia, with no intentions of slowing down. Another creature! I hope they like me! I'm gonna' say hi!

Through his cycles, the swan's curiosity concerning Monoceros only grew. Never having stepped foot into the room, only heard of it through passing conversations, or simply darting past the tunnel entrance on his rounds throughout the cave system. Though unstable at first as he'd entered the room, Varne had managed to regain his balance, only descending a few feet in the air as he flew.

Though for the life of him, even keeping an eye open for other gembounds, the swan couldn't find a single one! At least, none that stood out from the rocks. His flight around the room was stalled as a flash of pink caught his eye, a curious whistle flitting from his throat as he changed directions. Slowly, the movement of two other forms presented themselves to him, one fairly large shelled form, with a splash of blue on the shell that he could only suppose was their gem. And another, much smaller form that moved quicker than he could focus on it.

"Curiouser, and curiouser."

Asurai looked to the floor as she walked through the cave. Her tail was in between her legs as she kept walking through the cave. She stopped when she saw the strange flower again and she slower approached. She spoke weakly and quietly to those around her.

"What......is that thing?"

Her head lowered softly as she stared at it. It looked so beautiful, she was not worthy of such beauty. She closed her eyes and then looked to the ground, not saying anything more.

Victor was a little annoyed that the flower had disappeared, that might of been the last of it's kind, however he was surprised when he saw the same glow from before. He slowly got closer and smiled. The flower was here now! There was another! He needed to take a closer look, hopefully this time nobody would kill it. He spoke loudly so everyone would hear him.

"Every one, please do not interact with the flower in any way. We don't want it to die. Look with your eyes and nose, not with anything else."

He slowly stepped forward and attempted to sniff the flower once more. As he did his quills rose up and spread out defensively protecting him and the flower. He wouldn't let anyway get too close. He would make sure this one survived.

So far, despite the gembounds looking and sniffing around, nothing happens. The creatures that sniff at the flower will smell a scent that reminds them of the safety of their chrysalis.

The flower continues to glow.

She lowered herself, laying beside the peculiar flower that was practically wonder incarnated. She would have laid there forever, or at least until her family came searching for her. Though at least she wouldn't be too lonely, even if she did have this flower as silent company. Much to her surprise another gembound appeared! A small little creature who was darting straight for them and the flower! Eyes widening she waited, processing if this little creature was a friend. She thought little of how many foes there could be out in the caves. She hadn't met really any other outside her immediate family. Though fate giving a hearty laugh was soon to fill her with all kinds of new friends!

Before she could speak and greet the approaching gembound she could make out the white flying blur of something in the distance. They seemed to be approaching too. A large white bird, or at least that was she thought they were at such a glance. She couldn't honestly tell unless they were closer.

"What......is that thing?"

Violet blue eyes darted over to a creature vaguely similar to her sweet Magdalena. They seemed rather passive, shy even! A smile rose to her features as she greeted the newcomer. Opening her mouth, ready to explain that it was a beautiful flower! Though any of its hidden wonders remained unknown. Well she tried to speak. That was until something prickly waddled from a new direction. Speaking up about her and telling everyone how to act around the flower. They even approached it and rose you their on quills! Successfully moving Hestia back from her comfortable position as her mind reeled in everything that was happening.

She felt a twinge of something new...was she angry at this new gembound? The others were much kinder! But this one made it to where only they could be close to the flower! And with those quills...they were a fairly threatening display...did he not think she could protect the flower? Did he think of her as someone who would squander away life!? Especially when this small plant life meant so much! At least in metaphor, it was a wonder all its own to live in Monoceros...

"You should calm down...the flower was doing just fine before you got here...we all were watching it kindly."

Fritz barely stopped in time to not crash into Hestia, and therefore it didn't really leave much room between the two. Instead of backing away, however, he looked up and stared at her with awe. He was completely oblivious to the other creatures around for a bit, rather impolitely, as he had a one-track mind. In order for the marmoset to realise they were there, the gembounds would probably have to shout at him.

"Every one, please do not interact with the flower in any way. We don't want it to die. Look with your eyes and nose, not with anything else."

That authoritive voice was the only thing to snag him from his daydream and he consequently switched his focus on Victor. At this point he acknowledged the other creatures, but he was so blinded by excitement that his reaction to them was rather delayed. He grinned at them, however, very largely.

All of these creatures were absolute strangers, but all strangers were friends to him, so it didn't really bother him. He just liked to get on with other creatures, "Ya' got it, spiky creature!" He squeaked crudely to Victor, but obediently.

"You should calm down...the flower was doing just fine before you got here...we all were watching it kindly."

Obviously Hestia thought differently, but Fritz didn't really see the tension in the situation. Seeing no problem, he got up ungracefully from where he'd nearly crashed into Hestia and started exploring the general area, sustaining his tunnel vision, with his eyes fixated on the floor. He finally walked around the flower, and as he promised, he did not touch it.

"Let's work together!" He squeaked, his lack of will power meaning he had no choice but to focus on the aesthetically pleasing flower.
