How come YOU guys get to garden all over Eridanus and have fun and get cool prizes? How come YOU guys get to choose who to leave out on pain of death?? How come YOU guys get a special tailor who makes people fancy clothes??? Well [redacted] you (Gembound under 18 years old should not swear), <b>the HIVE could do that TOO!!!!!</b><br />
<br />
Yeah!!!!!!<br />
<br />
It helped (didn't help) that they'd had a lot of spare time on their hands lately. A lot of time to think... to brainstorm, if you will. A droning (ha) tone filled the air now as they sat on the beach... the sandy beach...... you know what? Their family needed to get out here and touch <del>grass</del> sand <del>NOW</del> sometime very soon!!! It would be the perfect group bonding activity. Yellow loved group bonding. Yellow was so tired of sitting around and watching other people make friends and have fun. Okay so they weren't supposed to get into any fights recently but that didn't mean they couldn't have FUN!!!<br />
<br />
<i>We should have a beach day,</i> they suggested suddenly, directly to Mother. <i>With swimming and games and drinks and snacks! And we should have a competition with prizes just like that Master did in Eridanus but BETTER! And we'll be the ones to say NO VALKHOUNDS ALLOWED this time and it'll be time for THEM to get left out. And we'll make lots of friends!</i><br />
<br />
This was a great idea. Wasn't this a great idea??<br />
<br />
<i>Oh! And we should have fancy colorful clothes! We can call them <span style="font-weight: bold;">swimsuits</span>.</i> Rolls right off the tongue. <br />

Leo was a far cry from Jim's usual haunt, Monoceros. The humidity here was a novel feeling: the moisture in the air felt like it was almost a living creature that touched him with its warm sticky fingers. It was certainly an <span style="font-style: italic;">experience</span>, but... not an unpleasant one? At least, for now. Jim was a firm believer that one needed to get out and go try some new things once in a while, and as far as new things went, the beach was possibly one of the best places to be.<br />
<br />
The sand, too, was a novel sensation on his feet. Jim pressed his long, sticky toes into it, feeling the grains trickle between each toe. This, however, might have been less unpleasant when he still had dry, non-sticky paw pads. As it was, he knew he'd have to obsessively wash out each individual grain once he was done here.<br />
<br />
Just as Jim was getting into the zone—that was to say, zoning out staring at the rock stacks rising from the water in the distance (hey, he couldn't help but appreciate rocks as someone attuned to rock magic himself)—there was a sharp pinch on one of his toes. <b>"OW!"</b> he yipped, wrenching out his paw from deep in the (warm, warm) sand. The offender?<br />
<br />
A wriggling iridescent Lesser Snake (technically a lizard, if you wanted to get pedantic about it, and there was no one more pedantic than Jim), its mouth attached to one of his long, gecko-like toes. Apparently, it must have resembled a delicious worm... or something.<br />

Relic huffed and puffed her way through the path to the Workshop. Why was it always so hot in the caves? When was the last time she'd been cold - better yet, at a comfortable temperature? Relic had a couple floating around in her boiling head, actually. One about dungeons, more risky but far more rewarding than the one she'd been to. This one was the safest choice, the natural step after acquiring and using her armour. Relic paused, a dark smudge in the Workshop's hallway. <spk>"Hello? Um-"</spk> She didn't have a name to call, and it felt strange using a title. <spk>"- Anyone there?"</spk></p>

<div class="vargastable"><center><font color="#bcfd3b" face="copperplate" size="+3";>- THE LEVIATHAN -</font></center><p>
<br />
Vargas threaded his way up the sandy trail, little puffs rising behind each of his steps. He was careful, still--and had been this whole way--not to leave Orthoclase-Alpha behind. If it spoke, he'd speak back; beyond that he simply, unerringly, headed for a secluded spot in Leo.<br />
<br />
Light beat down on his hide, and he mused that it was nothing compared to the burning heat of a real sun--one that, after millennia, he had felt but once as it seared his skin. But still, it was warm. And heat was what he needed. He led the way around a curving path, one that rose behind the bay toward a series of pools and waterfalls where the warm waters of the bay met the base of Leo's volcano. <br />
<br />
It wasn't idealism, foolish hopefulness, that made him wonder if <i>molting</i>--a stuck carapace--might be the base of all Orthoclase-Alpha's miserable depression. It was pragmatism. The thought had occurred to him long ago, and he'd never really pursued it; he intended to do so now, if only to rule it out before moving on to such things as "mind reader therapy" and "whatever else I can think of in last-minute desperation."<br />
<br />
<thk>Dhracia failed.</thk> Now that was a thought. If nothing else, he could take a sort of grim solace in that thought; a dark hilarity, despite the ill omen such a thing provided.<br />
<br />
<spk>"Here,"</spk> he told his spawn at last, pushing past a stand of thickly overgrown jungle plants to plunge down a steeper slope. Water stood in honeycombed, hissing falls, rivulets trickling down; larger pools stood here and there, some warm, some outright hot. They weren't the best hot springs in the caves, but they would do for his purposes, and Vargas tested the waters of one with one hand before plunging in like a dog, head tilting up as his upper body briefly submerged. He paddled awkwardly to the other side, making room, then turned and settled where the water lay shallow.<br />
<br />
An exhale escaped him, six toxic eyes sliding to languid near-closed. He turned, seeking out Alpha with his gaze, the thought <thk>now, let us see if you can swim</thk> one of pure metaphor. <br />
<br />
<spk>"Do not worry--don't concern yourself with--<i>accomplishing</i> something. I simply want you to try and feel the water,"</spk> he urged, his tone one of calm confidence, forced to something quieter than his usual booming voice. <spk>"To listen to the steam and feel the heat on your muscles. Then tell me how it feels."</spk> <i>'This is not a test,'</i> he nearly added, in assurance; but he'd said so many times that everything was a test. How could Alpha believe that now-? So he left it unsaid, allowing himself to relax in the water, settling up to his jaws.<br />
<br />

The thought had occurred to him long ago, and he'd never really pursued it; he intended to do so now, if only to rule it out before moving on to such things as "mind reader therapy" and "whatever else I can think of in last-minute desperation."<br />
<br />
<thk>Dhracia failed.</thk> Now that was a thought. If nothing else, he could take a sort of grim solace in that thought; a dark hilarity, despite the ill omen such a thing provided.<br />
<br />
<br />
An exhale escaped him, six toxic eyes sliding to languid near-closed. He turned, seeking out Alpha with his gaze, the thought <thk>now, let us see if you can swim</thk> one of pure metaphor. <br />
<br />

"The Lair" is a small group with a core membership of interrelated characters. Stemming from the parents Asimona and Dread, their shared children Svartis and Bone, and their other children/adopted children Bug and Blight, the group is a tightly-knit lair of dragons.<br />
<br />
They are likely to defend themselves and some will respond to threats with hostility. This group is not widely open for joining; instead, members are only likely to be inducted if they live in the area and become trusted allies of the current members.<br />

<b>Allies:</b> Kingdom of the Seven (loosely)<br />

<b>Attitude:</b> Cautious, but not hostile outright, to strangers. Open to trade.<br />
