MARROWBOUND KINGDOM

"vita perpetua"

THE CODE

1. The Kingdom is a family first, and comes first, above any and all else.

2. We serve Canis as much as it serves us as our home. It is a vital part of what keeps us alive, and so, we offer it what is left of the dead.

3. All stones found by the Marrowbound are to be returned to Canis before they are given life.

4. All stones found by the Marrowbound MUST be given life within the same thee cycles it was found.

5. Ranks are determined in-character and can vary based on character development and events.

RANKS

(Royalty ranks are limited to one per player)
Tunetur :: Carni | Almighty
Also called The Bound King, to be protected.

Consilium :: Eythan | Oscenavis
Advisor to the King, often a relative or ex-royalty.

Antiqui :: --
Also called the Keeper of Bones. Oversees the Magis.

Iustitiae :: --
Head of the Virtus class, commands the King's army.

Scientia :: --
Head of the Ingenii, and a master tactician.

Haeream :: --
Head of the Auget class and the Kingdom's best mage.

Magis -- Those who have devoted their lives to the archives of Canis. They keep the catacombs organized and tidy, whilst also sorting new bodies to their final resting place, so that their stone may start anew. The Honored do not revive stones. Magis travel daily in and out of the caves, and as thusly forgiven from most Council Meetings.

Yuma, --, --, --, --

Virtus -- The strong and physically able. These are the brute strength of the Kingdom, and are capable fighters thusly. They tend to be strong, large gembound, ready to lay down their lives for their home. Virtus remain close to Canis, travelling no further than Orion and its ajoining tunnels unless tasked otherwise.

Xerxes, Aeroth, --, --, --

Ingenii -- The tacticians of the Kingdom, or the cleverest at least. These gembound think before they act and put their brains to good use in a number of ways. Ingenii tend to stay in and around Canis, where it's safest to persue their arts and studies.

Felina, --, --, --, --

Auget -- Augets are the magic users. They specialize in their elemental arts and can use their magic for the betterment of the Kingdom, either by enforcing its defenses or uniting its people. Augets are coveted, and typically only travel out of Canis only when accompanied by a Virtus.

Vianne, --, --, --, --

Iuvenis -- Gembound under 6 cycles old, expected to learn and grow. Kept inside Canis except on escorted outtings for lessons or guided tasks.

Morigarra, Kesil, Bremen, --, --

Novus -- Gembound older than 6 cycles who have joined as outsiders. They train under their chosen class until their chosen tutor deems them worthy of promotion- typically within a cycle or two of hard work.

--, --, --, --, --

Peccatum -- Gembound under punishment, or captives of war or crime. Usually temporary. They are tasked with aiding in the undesireable chores around the Kingdom, if they're lucky enough not to be locked up.

--, --, --, --, --

Hospes -- Visitors staying for extended periods, to be treated like guests. They have nothing to do with internal affairs, but are welcome to the Kingdom's hospitality otherwise.

--, --, --, --, --

Ceremonies

Dicere Vale - Funeral / Memorial Ceremony
When a Gembound is witnessed to lose its life, a prayer is spoken; not to any god, but to the fallen Gembound; "Iam cetera, novam vitam manet." The body is then sent to join the rest in the Catacombs of Canis, by the Magis, and their stone is readied for revival.

Heredis nuntiáre - Coronation of the Heir
The King chooses an official heir, before the whole Kingdom. The Heir will begin training under the King from this moment forward. An Heir doesn't have to be chosen, but for a king to die without one is shameful, as it leaves the Kingdom with the hard choice of who will lead next. An Heir must have relation to the current or previous Kings, either by blood or by bond.

Procedures

Canis Gate; Trespassing and Gate Keeping.
At some point, all Virtus will be assigned the daily task of Gate Keeping. They're to remain alert and at the entrance to Canis, protecting it from trespassers; as Canis is not a passageway to other caves, we of the Kingdom have no reason not to guard our home and protect it and its people.

OOC: Anyone of High Rank or Virtus Rank specifically may intercept any new arrivals to Canis. Trespassings are met with respectful decline; Canis and its crypts are not a tourist attraction. Those seeking to pay homage to the dead, join the kingdom's ranks or those seeking sanctuary are welcomed, but escorted until ranked or their departure from Canis, to ensure the protection of the Kingdom, its culture, its rites and its people.

Retrievals; When the Magis bring home the dead.
Periodically, Magis are escorted or permitted to leave Canis in order to search for the lost deceased in the caves. They bring home at least the stone, to keep it safe, or else the entire body if possible; otherwise, a team of Virtus and other volunteers will be sent out to retrieve the fallen brother or sister and return them to their rest in the Canis Crypts.

Timeline
[ 1 ] Founding Thread - Carni calls his newly gathered followers together to announce the official rebirth of their kingdom in Canis.
Aeroth would be very interested in this. Astaroth less so. But Aeroth would possibly even help in creating this if carni told plans of it to her
@Astaroth Aeroth would be a very welcome addition to MBK! :0
Yays! Now I need you to respond to that one thread. the obsession one @carni
@Felina @Aeroth @Vianne
Double-checking to make sure we're all still interested in founding MBK.

If so, all of the high ranks are available, though I'd suggest starting out in the middle tier, where you're all currently fledglings. x3

Felina could do well in the Ingenii rank; Her interest in preservation and food would be a huge help in helping Canis become self-sufficient again. As well, where her skills seem to roll best in other, she'd be able to advance upwards from there if she so liked, to possible become the Scientia, or head tactician. x3

Aeroth has the Tactician achievement but from what I've seen of her profile, I feel like she'd do well if she advanced through the Virtus rank; these are the kingdom's physical warriors, and to advance, they raise their level in the physical tree. She'd eventually have the chance to rank up and become the Iustitiae, leader of the Kingdom's army.

Vianne has the mage's achievement, and she appears geared towards helping those she cares about, yes? She'd do well as an Auget, to advance into Haeream once master level in the magic tree. Her magic would be put to good use, and where she seems less battle-ready than many of our other prospects, keeping her aligned with healing magic could make her our first healer. ;o
I do plan on having Vianne become their first healer c: And definitely working on magic with her~ I'll try and focus on getting her more and more spells and having her use them more often so she can get to the master level quickly cx
I think Felina would be a better fit for the MBK equivalent of a scout or sentry. Like most felines, she has inherent night vision, but can't see in total darkness. Her amber-gold eyes are well suited for night patrol.

She's selfless and humble. She'd be very uncomfortable if she was given a title. Felina *hates* the "limelight" or being the center of attention.

A scholar would be even better, if there's such a position in MBK. Her main drive is seeking knowledge. She's a very eager student.

The third and last possibility would be something equal to a spy. Her runty size makes it easy for Felina to hide or fit into a small space. Her fur color (see pic on the left) might make good camouflage in most places except where there's snow.
@Vianne Awesome to hear! :DD I'll sort her into the ranks then!

@Felina Where you're describing things that would roll under "Other", with the exception of maybe night vision if you were to give her that spell, in the scouting aspect.

That said, MBK won't have specific ranks like that. The three primaries are based entirely off of your character's level tree; that is, whether it is Magic, Combat or Tactics- with tactics covering everything that isn't magic or combat related.

This includes scouting, construction, farming (though magic users can also specialize in this), traditional medicines (so while the mages handle the difficult tasks, non-magical healers are still a thing), etc.

Rather than be based off skill specifically, ranks are based on how a gembound excels at their skills.

So if a character survives the caves primarily using its magic, and optionally, is working on their magic level tree, they'd do well in the magic-based rank (in this case, Augets). Likewise, if a character brute-forces their way through issues, and optionally is leveling through the brawler tree, they'd be best suited for the Virtus rank.

Where Felina uses her head, enjoys learning, and thrives on stealth over brute force or magic, she'd absolutely fit the Ingenii rank, as it's intended for scholarly, creative or inventive sorts that work better putting their minds to good use.

That said, feel free to browse the ranks above again, I'm more than happy to consider an additional rank if you truly believe she doesn't fit into any pre-existing ones. :>
Definitely interested in throwing @xerxes at this! He needs to get some magic back, but that won't take long. He'd probably make a good virtus ultimately, being a big burly lion, but he does use his fire physically when he has it lol
