Grishia Halfteeth was naked.

She'd been naked, for the most part, since she was hatched, and it didn't really bother her. But she'd seen clothes about, and she'd gotten to thinking, and come to two conclusions.

First, clothes looked pretty cool. A bit restrictive, maybe, but they could really enhance one's style. Her mom didn't wear clothes, exactly, but she did wear paint and bones and stuff and Grishia was pretty on-board with that aesthetic.

Second, though? Some clothes had pockets. The idea of pouches and bags was foreign to her but pockets? She'd seen pockets, and she wanted some. She had hands, so she could carry things, but there was a difference between clutching some pebbles between her paw-pads for a long walk back home, and just sticking them into her pockets to keep those same paw-hands free. There was also her staff, which she carried everywhere, and which basically meant that one hand was permanently occupied.

It'd taken her until now to bother actually following through on this, though. As it was she was poking around the palace, looking for the tailor she'd heard of. <spk>"Hello?"</spk> she called out, hesitant, but her eyes brightly hopeful. <spk>"Is there someone here named--Mimosa?"</spk>
There was still some chattering, but then the lights began to dim and the voices quieted as well until all was silent.

"Welcome, dear audience, to the Cepheus Theater!" A twinkling, feminine voice echoed sweetly through the theater. If one listened really hard they may detect something buzzingly familiar. "Please refrain from any recording devices, disruptive behavior, sounds, lights, or any magic in general that may be disruptive or you will be REMOVED from the premises!" She seemed to be trying really really hard to sound professional.
When performing in scenes, try not to linger on them for too long, especially if they are one on one scenes.

Cepheus was buzzing with excitement (quite literally, Nemean's playful buzzing filled every nook and cranny) as guests lingered around the outside of the Theater. Concessions were being sold in a flurry, although they were slightly more, ahem, refined then usual - wines, beers, and champaigns served in cute little glasses, and small packages of nuts, pretzels, and sweets. The palace guards lingered around the outsides to ensure there was no trouble. Isra sat near the doors, looking extremely displeased to be there, and perhaps even more frustrated at the white collar set with a black bowtie wrapped around her neck. Was it sparkling pink, too?

There were others there, too, filtering in - Eggbert had his little paws on the concession stand, reaching for a cup of pretzels while Nedies stood just behind him, sipping on a glass of champagne. Not far away, Momma Balormaa and the Blacksmith chatted quietly, both of them a bit more shy but seemingly there out of curiosity.

A couple, more rarely-seen cave denizens were there too. A small group of Shapers from Centaurus were gathered together, seemingly bundling as many alcoholic drinks together as they could, snicking quietly to each other. And was that....Rezik? The black and blue deer-like creature looked neither excited to be there nor willing to interact with anyone. Perhaps he had only arrived to look good for the Master running this show. He sniffed disdainfully as he glared at Meissa, who jumped excitedly in front of the doors, getting right in Isra's face. "Come ONNNN I wanna see I wanna see!! Where's the musical? Is it happening? I wanna go innnnn!" she barked excitedly, but Isra didn't react, although if one looked carefully they might detect a gleam of regret for every single life choice that had brought her to this moment.

The show would start soon, but it looked as if there was time to arrive and mingle, before the pre-show began.

Backstage, meanwhile...

Mimosa rushed to and fro, needle and thread in hand, fixing any issue on the rack of costumes they could set their eyes on. "Look lively, everyone! If you have any rips or zips or buttons loose or something that you don't think is right, say now before you go on stage! Don't want to ruin your look!!" As the performing gembound arrived, they had their costumes ready to lay on with practiced efficiency. Makeup stands and mirrors dotted the large room for their own discretion - Mimosa would not be helping with that.

Were they ready, were they excited? Nemean's buzzing was prominent back here, but she wasn't visible...yet. They could all feel her eyes on them, though, and her expectations. They better be ready!

It is time for the pre-show of Origin's Musical event! Feel free to hang out and talk with each other or the present NPCs, get concessions, or prepare yourselves in the back for the upcoming show!

Well. That wasn't exactly true. It had woken up disoriented, then obliterated its chrysalis in a panic. And THEN it had bee-lined towards Cepheus. It wasn't sure how much time had passes, or if The Collector would make an exception because it picked a stupid fight it should've won. Maybe it should've gone to Canis before going here, just to check, but it didn't want to return empty-handed.
Anyways, it was already at Cepheus, where it had seen the largest concentration of her garish pink posters. It was holding one of said posters, already signed.

As activity in the caves once again begins to reignite, gembound would start to find odd papers around the caves, close to tunnel exits into larger caves and places of high foot traffic. They float in the air and are hard to miss, glowing and sparkling as they are. There is writing on each paper, but for those Gembound that can't read, the paper will start giggling and reading its own message aloud in a bright, bubbly voice.
There’s the lead and the side-lead and the villain and the second villain and the love interest ooooooo!! And the best friend who probably dies in, like, the first hour and the background character and the ensemble - oh just tell me the role you want already!!

UGH and FINE I'll give you rewards or whatever so you BETTER COME!! And you better DO YOUR BEST!!!

Welcome to the prelude of an upcoming event, Origin on Broadway! This will be a fun, lighthearted event in which characters may take on rolls and sing and perform their hearts out on stage! There will be a loose story in place, but the details will be decided as the performance goes on - you will decide the direction it goes! Roles, as well, are up to each character to decide, there's no set cast-list and so each character can sign up for whatever they want. There will be a dedicated protagonist and antagonist, which will be up for a first signup basis, but everything else is whatever your character would like to be.

The details for the musical have not been announced. Signups will close on July 7th and the event will begin on July 10th!

Signups will be done in-character in this thread. Characters can be assumed to be in different parts of the caves and do not have to interact with each other.

It had been standing outside the Palace for weeks. Is it "standing"? Is that what that should really be called? Let's say "idling". It had been, without a doubt, staring at the Palace entrance for night cycle after night cycle. Any passersby have likely been too unnerved to ask it why, if they could identify it as a living creature in the first place. Anyone bold enough to try would have been met with no (legible) response.

At the top of the train, it is possible to check for a sign of interest or intrigue, or at least a sign of life. The glistening emerald gemstone bobs up and down ever so slightly, atop a great wall with a dramatic height of 7 feet. Not really visible to most smaller creatures. Even less visible is what dwells within that hunk of gemstone. Even those who could have climbed up the train's frontmost car (also known as its "head") would have had to be rather astute to spot the two thin, unassuming slits in the gemstone. Those who did manage enough curiosity, courage, or stupidity to peer inside those slits would have been rewarded with an inexplicable and chilling sight: eyeballs.

The only eyes the train possesses.

And they've been pointed at the entrance to the Palace for, again—weeks.

What it has been learning or analyzing or thinking is, as per usual, a mystery. Today, right now, marks the first day of an action that anyone could identify with intelligible verbiage, English or otherwise. It moved. Into the building.

Eggbert, the poor butler, was moved past without any concern or acknowledgement. And perhaps that was to his great fortune. The flesh train stumbled through hall after hall until it found whatever it was looking for.

...Books.

It is very fortunate indeed that the Palace had been built to accompany much larger forms than the train itself. Does it know that? Probably not. Its course had been set, and nothing else likely came to its mind. Upon reaching its destination, the train had to be very delicate. The emerald cap had popped up, and a very ginger, outstretched tendril cluster wrapped in loose skin (seriously, do not ask) had grasped at a random book from a very tall shelf.

It had managed to get about half the distance back to the train's only working pair of eyeballs before the tendrils failed to maintain their crude conception of a grasp. Stunned by its own failure, the train's emerald cap had come out just a bit further; a sheepish attempt to see where on the ground the book had landed. Regardless of what it found, the message from this point could not have been clearer: life was struggle, and knowledge was pain.

This had led to a gradual procession into a book flying frenzy. Attempt after attempt to grasp books of different shapes, weights, sizes. Most fallen to down in rejoiceful reunion with Mother Earth, unimpressive in their landing as a deflated kite. Oh, but the mess this ended up making. Now THAT was impressive.

Eventually the train had grasped grasping. Then all that was left was finding out finding. This had been the subject of another tyrannical tirade. And once you're finished parsing this parcel, you'll find the train in its current assumed position: clumsily employing its dexterous head tentacles to rifle through pages of books in unkempt clusters. Title after title of book after book, strewn about the floor.

It's going to suck rather bad for whoever has to clean this mess.
He lifted his head and looked around, finding the area rather quiet, which wasn't really all that odd, but still, he had hoped someone would be there to see his grand entrance.... re entrance.
He snorted and turned to his remaining chrysalis, faintly reflective and just barely able to see himself, or at least the reflection of his colors back on the cracked material.

"Over/Seen!"

A new show is now showing in the Palace Cinema! A new episode airs each Tuesday and will play repeatedly throughout the week. Each episode begins with a loud and cheerful theme song, and short clips of a number of characters with their names shown beneath. A silly set of lyrics sings along about how this group is OVERSEEN, OVERSEEN, BUT EACH WONDERS, ARE THEY SEEN? and so on. It seems to be very loosely based upon Origin Cave's structuring, with an overarching story about development of an underground nest of Chaos, and the appropriate propaganda; but individual episodes focus on the relationships and mishaps of the show's characters.

The characters will be gradually introduced, but are named in the title credits as follows: Master Solerus, Master Moethan, Master Salicara, Overseer Bathwin, Overseer Nothilus, Fillian, Kragrak, Helly, Lorilus, and Vostilor.

Episode One

The pilot! As the theatre lights go down and after the title has played, we are introduced to a fretting Overseer Bathwin: a big, purple-black brute of a Valkhound. His workers are gathered before him: a fox-centaur Valkhound named Fillian; a muscled black, feline creature named Kragrak; a Valkhound that sort of looks like a cross between a monster and a flower, named Helly; a lanky brown, purple and grey six-legged beast with plated skin--Lorilus; and a swift creature with a serpentine build but a grey-purple humanoid upper body and flowing silver hair, named Vostilor. Baldwin explains (with obvious exposition for the audience) to his workers that they've been tasked with preparing three new caves for the Nest. Each is given their new responsibilities.

Fillian is to fine-tune the architecture, Kragrak must keep them save and arrange patrols and hunts, Helly must prepare foliage and plant life, Lorilus must prepare special areas for testing creations, and Vostilor has to arrange the flow of water through these caves.

There's an immediate comic misunderstanding about the orders which turns into argument, and just as things become completely chaotic we are introduced to Overseer Nothilus, a snivelling caricature of a spider-like creature who walks in, then sneeringly insists he has to 'go report this' chaos to the Masters. Nothilus is depicted as doing nothing except tattling, so he's a coward and a loser, obviously! As he leaves, Bathwin and the others quickly get to work, brilliantly helping each other solve their own problems with Teamwork™.

Nothilus returns near the end of the episode with Master Solerus in tow: a creature of Chaos, humanoid and tall and flaring with rainbow light.

In a comedic twist, the group has already finished a lot of hasty work, making Nothilus look bad in front of Master Solerus! As Kragrak mutters under his breath: "get absolutely wrecked."

The show ends with Over Bathwin praising his group after the Master and other Overseer have departed, and promising that although they have done well, they are only just getting started.

As the episode ends, the lights come up, the credits music playing.

The Archives of Light is the name for a collection of knowledge and culture, and a home for those who add to this collection. Those who seek to uncover ancient history, to learn the mysteries of those glyphs called "writing" and to pore over the ancient tomes of Cepheus, to search out the old carvings on the cave walls and learn from them; those who would record the music, history and stories of the modern era so that it--unlike mere mortal creatures--will never be lost... these are those who come and go through the Archives' hallowed halls.

The Archives are located in Cepheus, where the great library of the Palace is periodically open to Gembounds. The opportunity to study these ancient relics is sure to attract the keener minds, and their convergence will serve as the foundation of the Archives of Light as a group.

Who are we?

The Archives of Light are a loose collection of Gembounds linked not by true set-in-stone goals, but by a common theme: the gathering and preservation of knowledge. The scientifically minded may come to pick through ancient knowledge; bards may visit to record their sagas; and magicians may come to record their most powerful spells. Gembound come and go freely, with their own goals and ideals, cooperating to aid one another where they wish.

This is no tribal clan, with rigid ranks and tasks set by a leader; nor are the Archives a family that keeps its knowledge to itself. They may have roles: a chronicler of major cave events, a historian learning from ancient tomes, or a journalist interviewing Gembounds of other groups for their history and culture, so as to preserve it for all time. But these roles are fluid, self-assigned; the only tasks pursued are the ones which the Archives' intellectuals choose to.
A group may gather to aid one another in translating old library tomes into a new language, or an expedition may set out to discover old writing in the distant corners of the caves. Other Gembounds or representatives from other groups may come to seek the Archives' aid: do any of Cepheus's books, perhaps, note the amount of water needed to grow mint plants, or list a history of how the door to Canis came to be? Members of the Archives may choose to delve into their stores of knowledge to provide these answers, and thus better the caves as a whole.
Down this hallway is only one door but it leads into a very large theater room with tiered levels for seating. A large screen sits at the base and plush curtains line the walls. It has minimal lightning that can dim and brighten as needed. The lights line the stairs to each level of seating, and the seats themselves; there are larger lights among the plush curtains, and star-like ones on the ceiling. These all turn off during a showing except for those lining the stairs, which dim to a very low level. The seats themselves come in varying sizes: some are broad, some are simply beanbags or pillows; there are areas for larger creatures, too.

Next to the doorway is a concession stand. It is staffed by a fox-like imp and several ivory mice. Available snacks are candies, popcorn, hot dogs, nachos, and soft pretzels. Drinks come in all shaped cups or gourds for all sorts of paws and hands. Available drinks are varying carbonated, sugary pops and frozen slushy-like drinks. Water is also an option. There is a limited assortment of warm drinks that include coffee, hot chocolate, and teas.

NEST PATROL shows during the morning and afternoon light cycles. This is an animated cartoon starring hero Rodd Danger. Rodd is an older looking dark elf, with wrinkles that suggest he is very wise. Most notable is his black cowboy hat and light blue eyes. Rodd's outfit is otherwise quite simple: a black button-up shirt and black trousers. He is barefoot. Rodd has a southern accent.

The intro to NEST PATROL is as follows:
Rodd busts through a wall of quartz and there is applause. It starts to flip through short video clips of Rodd defeating villains with flashy visuals and comical sound effects.

The theme song is:
DANGER!!! (thunder sound effects)
IT'S RODD DANGER HERE TO SAVE THE DAY
WITH FISTS AND TEETH, THERE IS NO OTHER WAY
RODD! RODD! RODD DANGER!! (thunder sound effects)
DISPOSING OF REBELS AND KEEPING IT CLEAN
KEEPING US SAFE FROM THOSE THAT ARE MEAN
RODD IS THE MASTERS' GREATEST HERO
MAKING SURE FAILURES REMAIN AT
ZEERRROOOOO!!
RODD! RODD!! RODD DANGERRRRR!!! (lightning storm)

Episodes always open with Rodd introducing himself:
"HEY FELLOW HOUNDS! It'd R-O-Double D DANGER here today again to hunt down nasty villains! Who's on the list today?" Rodd checks a list of names. "Oh, we got a good one today folks!" He introduces the crime, for example: "Someone has painted graffiti on Orion's Tower!" The camera zooms in on the crime, and pans out to Rodd holding his hat to his chest with his head sadly bowed. He shakes it, and wipes a tear. "How could they!? DON'T WORRY!" Rodd flips his hat onto his head. "WE'LL GET THEM!" The episode begins.

All episodes contain a lesson or moral that is focused around nest productivity and obeying the masters. They end with an end credits song that is an electric guitar solo played by Rodd himself. There is a small video next to the text that shows Rodd disposing of decomposing bodies in Canis and he is met with the fanfare of his fellow hounds, who are very thankful of his hard work. The text doesn't matter because nobody can read.

NEST NANNIES shows during the evening/dimming hours of the light cycle. This is a drama-like docu-series that follows the masters through their creation process, including tours through their personal living quarters. It is narrated and hosted by Nemean. The opening is corny videos of each pair looking toward the camera with their names displayed at the bottom. It has original music written by Nemean. The music does not fit the theme of the show and sounds more like someone dropped twenty pots and pans at once. Nemean received an award from Nemean for the beautiful work she did on the soundtrack.

The episodes cycle through several of each of the pairs:

Astraea / Tenzin: These episodes feature an albino dark elf, with long flowing hair and a perfect figure. In the center of his head is a ruby. His eyes are red. This is Astraea. His partner is an ice-phoenix named Tenzin. Sometimes appearing in their episodes is their daughter, Dawa, who is a white lamb, and her boyfriend, Raheerah, who is a large, fiery black dragon. There is often drama between the fathers and Raheerah.

Dawa / Raheerah: Despite Raheerah's fiery personality, these episodes are often very wholesome, with Raheerah supporting Dawa in her design decisions, and then adding a bit of his own flair, which often includes making the creation ten times more violent in appearance.

Nemean / Aquarian: These episodes contain a lot of drama between this pair, but ultimately they create very productive and cool designs. As episodes go on, they bicker more and more. Their creations suffer from their incompatible nature. Astraea shows up often in their episodes to scold them on their work ethic. Nemean can be heard narrating over his voice in a mocking tone when this happens.

Jupiter / Totum: In these episodes, characters will recognize Jupiter by her gemstone but not her appearance. She is furred with a long tail, but otherwise the same. Jupiter and Totum are an extremely hard-working pair and often create some of the better designs on the show. However, in later episodes, it becomes clear that something is up with Jupiter. She starts to argue certain design elements. In one episode, it is shown via a hidden camera that she altered the design of Batcat, and he was born without Chaos. Strange!

Enki / Tamulus: These episodes also contain a good dose of great designs. Enki is a bipedal creature with multiple wings and a lanky body. It is a deep blue-black color. Tamulus is a human-looking creature with long platinum-blonde hair and large white wings. They are a good pair. Sometimes Tamulus is tasked to make creations by himself, and for some reason, he can impart any element he wants on a creation. Somehow, he seems different than the other masters. As episodes go on, he becomes less willing to be seen in them. In the last episode of this pair, Enki has mysteriously disappeared and cannot be found.

Artio / Farina: Perhaps the most wholesome of all the episodes. Artio is beautiful spriggan lady whose hands are often clasped together in front of her. She has long-sleeved flowing robes made of varying plants, vines, and flowers that seem to change every episode as different plants grow. There is an uncountable number of root-like legs that carry her around smoothly, almost in a glide. Farina is a giant crab. They pour a ton of thought and love into each design they create, and make very efficient designs. Sometimes they are tasked with creating very specific designs; they always end up making the most brutal, but amazing, creations.

The Elenya clan is a family group built upon trust and peace. Founded by Attikias Elenya, his adoption of various younger beings and welcoming of others into his camp has become a large group over time, supplemented by his own children that accompany him in his day to day activities. While nobody is obligated to stay close, anyone is encouraged to join or keep the Elenya name if they want to have a family to come back home to in the lonely nights.

Beings in the clan are encouraged to follow their own path. Nobody is obligated to do anything for the family, and they will always be welcome in Attikias's eyes. Typically harassing other members of the caves without reason is frowned upon, along with thievery and attacks, as the clan is not set out to antagonize anyone. While it's not a set rule, it's encouraged to try and keep others safe, to build alliances and friendships where you can.

Even if they're far apart, all members of the Elenya family remain family if they wish to, whether they're in the group itself or not.

The Elenya clan's camp is developed and busy, with its sandy dirt showing evidence of a lot of foot traffic. What started as a natural clearing has grown due to the expansion of new homes- the original shack with space to fit around five humanoids lays in front of a small copse of trees. Directly in front of it is a firepit, circled by small stones and dry logs to seat one’s self at. Urns with various powders and dried spices are found, and two bent metal rods poke out of the ground to hold a grill or spit.

If the first hut is east, then the second is to the south-east, nearby and larger than the first. While the first only has a sloping roof making up its lone back wall, the other is more of a tarp on sticks, creating a roof that protects open urns and pelts from the rain.

Further along this direction is a large workbench. Broken tools and projects lay strewn about it, and many wooden figures dot on and around it, carefully made to stand or perch. Notably in this area is an extremely lifelike figurine of a deer. Though, it seems almost hidden by a few leather straps, and pointedly turned away from the camp. Very rarely, faint deer-like cries can be heard from the object.

Between the table and rain-shed is a well-beaten path to a nearby river that can be heard faintly in the quiet of the night. To the table’s right, however, is a more hidden path, leading towards the nearby Eyes. It doesn’t seem to get much travel. By its entrance is a large, lumpy stone statue, decorated with silvery and blue flowers at its base.

Past this is a large nest, the area recently carved out of the pushed-back treeline. Carja’s personal, portable hoard is located here, as well as her saddle when she’s not donning it.

Running along back towards the main hut is sizable kiln beside a mix of urns and weapons that have been strewn about the area. Almost all of these have been seemingly scavenged from the tunnel before Monoceros- most are broken and unusable at this point. Near this, as well, is a secondary smoke-pit, designed to cure leather over it.
