Yeah, I know, it's not as impressive as 3 years but its really rare for me to be hooked on something for more then a few weeks, much less a whole year so I really feel the need to celebrate it somehow! I've got to say, this is hands down the best RP forum I've EVER been on, which is probably why I've been here for this length of time already. Seriously, this is all fantastic and everyone I've interacted with and made friends here...you guys are amazing, really. It's been such a joy and pleasure to write with you all! This last year has been really awesome and I'm looking forward to many more!

So I have something coming in the next day or two for my actual celebration but I did kind of want to share some stuff about my characters - notably their inspirations or things you might not know about them! If you don't care, I don't blame you you don't have to read! But I just kind of feel like spitting these things out bc I can. I'm really proud of a lot of these characters and I've understandably put a lot of work into them so I just want to present them for now and gush over how much I love (or, in one case, hate) them!

Winter
When I first joined I didn't think I'd ever get an RCS (or I didn't know about them I don't remember) bc they seemed like some impossible feat to get one so I based my first character off of my dragon OC, Asimona. Whenever I join new places I always name my first character either Silver, Winter, or Asimona. Usually the same kind of character too - a little shy but quite friendly and sweet but can get kind of snappy if pushed too far.

Blackberry
If you didn't know, Blackberry was originally a joke character I came up with on the fly. She was supposed to be this ridiculous, ranting, bully villain that was just kind of pathetic but a little alarming to come across. She's based off of a goose that hung around my high school while I was a junior/senior. She would constantly attack students and teachers that got near the door she nested above and they eventually blocked it off so nobody would get hurt. She was like a celebrity, she had her own twitter, she got a page in the yearbook, the school admins even changed the mascot on our website to a goose for a few days it was hilarious and iconic and also Blackberry's origins. Also I live somewhere where there's lots of geese and get attacked by them at least once a week while they're around. So there's that as well XD

Rift
I don't...remember Rift's origins, I'll be honest. I think he was another spur of the moment character but I don't regret making him at all! Just a little fun fact - if you knew him as a child you'd know that he used to cover his gem-ear with plants because everything was so loud. He no longer has to do this as he has gotten used to it. If, hypothetically, the volume in his gem-ear was changed to normal he'd probably think he'd gone deaf in that ear.

Greed
AKA Reseda. Also unsure of her origins but I'm going to be completely honest - I don't like writing Reseda. I never really have. To get in the mindset of a cold, calculating and intelligent individual is so foreign to me that it just doesn't work, which is why she constantly makes mistakes or comes off as arrogant or just plain stupid. While she was trying to form the Sinful Seven was really the only time where I was getting into it but it's fallen off. However, she's an interesting and important character to me and definitely a challenge I'm not putting down. It's just not as fun as some of my other characters.

Umbra
I did a report in my psychology class on DID and I won't deny that it was really interesting and I was inspired enough to make a character out of it. Umbra is near the top with Reseda on most difficult characters to play since having them constantly shifting and phasing makes it very confusing.

Asimona
Okay, so. When I was in high school I had a lot of struggles with mental disorders and stuff. I was trying to turn to anything to describe how I was feeling and I came across a community on the internet called 'otherkin'. I'm not going to go into detail but the thing that I identified as happened to be a dragon and, after meditation and dream searching, I came across the design that I believed myself to be, the dragon y'all know as Asimona. As time passed and I got better I realized that this wasn't really matching up anymore and I realized it was all just a big coping mechanism. So Asimona just kind of became this OC that's really close to me and I feel sometimes represents me. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't have schizophrenia too, that's simply a tie in to her original character's backstory. Mother represents, well, her mother who accidently have five eggs with a dragon that abandoned them. Three died in their shells and another one was born weak and tiny (Sister). The last was Asimona. Her mother forced herself to care for them for a while before eventually, for unknown reasons, left the cave and abandoned her children. Asimona wasn't there at the time and Sister died from exposure, unable to stay warm by herself in a cold environment. Some time later a fire dragon invaded her homeland, tricked her, and kept her prisoner for his own amusement. Although Origin Asimona calls him Father, he's not actually her father. Just her tormentor. I like to torture my characters. Also, a quick fun fact - Asimona's name comes from the words ασημένιο χειμώνα (asiménio cheimóna) which is Greek for Silver Winter :)

Glory
I always really liked the concept of the phoenix and I really wanted to make one myself. Only problem was I'd already used the RCS I'd saved up so much for and I didn't know if I'd get another one. So I made Glory, an flaming golden eagle instead. I may one day mutate him to have phoenix qualities but I've really grown to love him enough as is.

Aegir
Yet another character that came from somewhere random, Aegir's inspiration actually came from a piece of art I found on tumblr, which you can view here. I just suddenly had this idea of a celtic polar bear shaman and instantly got to work. Also, as Dark suggested, I ended up using Aegir to practice both Tarot and rune reading. That's right, anytime he reads the water for you, it's actually me doing either tarot or runes for your character!

Huckleberry
So I'm not really sure what I was going for with Huckleberry but I sure am glad it ended up here because I love this little boy. There isn't a lot of background inspiration, since he's not a first generation character, but there is a lot of music that inspires me to write him, notably sad songs about abusive relationships or feeling lost. I feel like I've poured some of my own experiences with toxic relationships into him, since, despite what people say, the right answer is not always clear. From the outside, it looks like the obvious choice for Huckleberry is to leave the family but for him its an impossible decision - stay with his 'loving' family and murder/be abused or leave everyone he ever loved and everything he ever knew. I won't go into detail now, but I relate to that a little, but on a much less horrifying scale. Also, a little lighter fact, I always imagined Huckleberry to be somewhere on the spectrum. I don't pretend to be an expert on autism but its pretty obvious that he's not neurotypical.

Amazon
I really like reptiles and the only other ones I had were (at the time) inactive Winter and my dumb sociopath. I also wanted to see what it was like to have a character with a limited life span. And, thus, Amazon was born with a stick of uranium growing on her head. She's difficult to play sometimes, but I love my lil lizar very much. Fun fact - I have maybe written her death post about three times O_O

Shengxiao
Originally Sheng was going to be this really cool bestial demon-guy but I was getting so frusterated trying to get the design down that I said 'fuck it' and went looking for other ideas. Came across this strange creature on tumblr (of course) and was like "that". I'll be honest, I kind of regret not going with my demon.

Lethe
So, obviously a character based off of the Greek myth of the River Lethe but also I just really like Binturongs. There's not a lot out there since literally no one knows about them but they're hilarious and they smell like popcorn and they sleep a lot. Lethe is super fun just kind of hard to get her into threads since, you know, she doesn't want to interact with anyone.

Cry
Cry is understandably underdeveloped and inactive because I literally saw a video of a mockingbird and said "I WANT THAT" and immediately made a drama bird. They're not fun. At all. But I really like the table I made for them *eyes*

Drake
No, Drake is not based off of anyone from Game of Thrones, but that would be heckin cool. No, I was reading a really cool thing about bearded vultures and it described them as dragon birds and I was just really into that idea so I ran with it. He's only inactive and a dead-ish character because I don't really know what to do with him at the moment.

Wilder
So yeah, fine, I admit, Wilder is kind of based off of the hilarity and confusion of Wigglytoes and also my ironic love for zalgo text. HOWEVER that's not just it, she's also inspired by the concept of black cats being symbols of misfortune, despite that being WRONG. Also their association with witches. It kind of all came together in about 15 minutes while I was in the dead lull of making pizzas over and over again. I have many ideas with her, none of which I'm going to share because I like having her as this kind of "what the hell is wrong with her" kind of character. I hope its working.
omg congrats :D

I love hearing about character inspirations; I even made a thread about it myself a couple of years ago. Asimona's is really interesting, and what especially interests me is that it's eerily similar to Nox's.

Nox's story
I 'discovered' her around 4 years ago now when I was in a bad place mentally. I still don't know what she actually is, but long story short I've spent years (since I was around 5) lucid dreaming that I had the ability to breathe fire and fly. One night, I had a vivid dream in which I was travelling a barren, apocalyptic world once inhabited by dragons, with my Fiance chris who was a gold dragon. In a fallen city, looked into a mirror and saw her, exactly as she appears on Origin to this day. She is, in essence, a physical manifestation of all my insecurities, with body and gender and sense of self; hence why she uses 'she' pronouns, and isn't truly a dragon. She's wyvern-like in shape but somehow different, and she knows it.

To this day, the hand-drawn image on her profile is the picture I drew of her the morning I woke up from that dream, in a moment of panic as I tried to preserve what I'd seen.

Like you, I joined an Otherkin forum as well, and spent a while keeping dream diaries and seeing if anyone had had anything similar. But no-one had.

In other incarnations, she was also just a gem. her physical body is actually just slime that she can control to create a body. And fun-fact; her wing-bubbles were initially gonna be eyes, as if she isn't gross and lovecraftian enough already.

If you're interested I'd love to share more of them but I don't wanna clog your thread up asdfgjfjkn

anyways congrats! it's been great having ya!
