Welcome to Cycle 138!

Was it just me or did August just kind of fly by without permission? Well, here we are on the first day of September, autumn is right around the corner, and its time to go into our monthly OTM winners and some of the exciting events currently happening on Origin!

Congratulations to all of our September OTM Winners! Character of the Month is Audland, the valkhound with beautifully complicated and maybe very homosexual thoughts, trying to figure out what to do with himself and his feelings in the wake of an...ahem. ENCOUNTER. Pair of the Month is Jinyi and Virosa, two characters that should probably be trying to kill each other on sight, but so far both have escaped major harm...and a valkhound now has a constant craving for those delicious Dontas. Thread of the Month is 12:00 - We shall ascend to the heavens, the beautiful conclusion to the story of the Three Kings, and their final farewell as they find freedom once again. I'm not crying, its just...its raining!! And finally, Member of the Month is the lovely Cicada, a long dedicated member that has brought some brilliant fun to Origin over the years, including Jinyi, our favorite Dontas manager, Parthenium, the herald of the Gemthralls, and of course, the ever-famous The Piano who needs no introduction!

Monthly Draw

Quest - RESISTANCE
Something interesting is happening between Chaos and Order. Perhaps not a full-blown fighting like before, but with the valkhounds soon leaving the caves to go to war among the stars, Mother looks to take advantage...but to do what? We shall see... Check out Chaos's side in PRELUDE 1 and Order's side in PRELUDE 2!

Origin's Musical!
The musical is still ongoing! The story will be pushing forward shortly so keep an eye on it for whatever crazy shenanigans will follow! Check it out in [ACT 1] Storytellers, Arise!

Quest - Feeding the Maw
While it is no longer open to new characters, the quest Feeding The Maw has begun to help Eridanus recover in the wake of Order's removal. Which of the three teams will emerge victorious and win the favor of Master Artio?

What is Lilith doing...
The quest A Whisper on the Wind will shortly be ending, but surely this is not the last we hear of Lilith and...whatever it is she is planning with the Masters...keep an eye out for her appearance in an upcoming part 2!

TEAR THE FLESH
The gemthrall lessers in TEAR THE FLESH are on the verge of being defeated and the danger is passed...for now. But the epidote infection still lingers in the depths of Origin Cave. Who knows what's coming next?

August OTMs & News!

Welcome to Cycle 137!

This month, we'll be listing OTMs and then going into some of the site's ongoing activity and events!

Congratulations to our August OTM winners! Character of the Month for July is the FUNGAL PHENOMENON, the MUSHROOM MENACE, the TRANSCENDENT TELEKINETIC, ahem, The Chorus! (Cheering crowd sounds) Pair of the Month is the adorable, surprisingly wholesome, and not-so-adorably-traumatized sort-of-sibling pair of feline-taur Howlite T-One and spinosaurus Brother. Thread of the Month is Let Sleeping Hives Lie, a thread about dangerous negotiations, featuring a questionable merchant, a giant bug queen, a forlorn knight and a Piano. It is a completely normal thread. Member of the Month for August is Jaymie, whose characters range from the massive Valkhound Tectus to the tiny, but well-travelled, cat Wilder to the early Transcendent mushroom (of the month!) The Chorus, and who is also running a number of quests, events and behind-the-scenes maintenance for the site. Thank you, Jaymie!

July OTMs & News!

Welcome to Cycle 135!

First off, Congratulations to our July OTM winners! Character of the Month for July is Worm, Tadpole's new and naked cat. Worm is already getting into some serious hijinks, and is worth keeping an eye (or eyes) on. Pair of the Month is Tsvetok and Timir, the awkward baby Valkhounds that have no idea how anything works, fight rocks, and have hatched into utter trickery. Thread of the Month is the... NSFW? ...maybe? Going Away Party, which is a fade-to-black of... I'm not sure what happens. Check it out for yourself. It's Valkhounds (again) trying to be romantic. We think. (We love it.)

Our Member of the Month is Tadpole, new but beloved already! Tadpole's got a roster of three: adopted dragon Lichen, the aforementioned kitten Worm, and piglet Hog who is barely two cycles old and already making shady deals with the Collector. (This can only be a good thing.)

Next, some news! First, we've got a poll up in regards to Magicka Earnings. While we're currently sitting at double (as the request for it is universal among active players and unlikely to be overturned) base post/thread earnings, let us know what you think of the cost of Transcendence! Second, the active quest/events section in the Header is being updated. We actually have quite a few events/quests running at the moment, so feel free to spectate or (if they're still open) jump in to take part! For those looking for additional plotting, Snail's been kind enough to put up this thread! for those searching for interaction in regards to their Collector quests. Got a ~~victim~~ potential participant? Post there!

As a reminder, there's also a war event for Valkhounds coming up in a few cycles--information can be found on that thread.

A number of achievements have at last been added to the Guidebook! Have a look over, and feel free to claim any that your characters have earned in Update Me. Big thanks to all those who provided the sprite art, including Tadpole, Viv, JayTheBird, ShadowLugia, Snail, Candy!, Shafaer, Chishio, and to Bunny & Jaymie for setting up and then adding the achievements, respectively!

Finally, a big shoutout to Jaymie, who has been rotated in as Game Master! A number of the available events & quests right now are being run by her already. Thank you Jaymie!

Welcome to Cycle 134!

Congratulations to our June OTM winners! Character of the Month for June is Callista, the shrewd day-and-night feline who's also claimed half of this month's Pair of the Month! Everyone's (least) favorite corporate Chaos boss, Vargas, forms the other half, by storytelling if not by bulk.

Thread of the Month aptly named PEOPLE CAN DIE???? and foreshadows another excellent recent thread, where absolutely nothing bad happens. Our Member of the Month is viv, coming back in strong primarily with the elven Aurelle; don't forget to watch their lovely art shop for when it's got open spots!

Happy 11th Anniversary, ORIGIN!

It's been 11 whole years since Origin opened in May of 2015, and so much has happened and changed since then! We know it's been quiet around here lately, but we appreciate everyone that is still sticking around and talking in the discord and we're excited for all the talk of activity upcoming!

We don't have anything huge planned for this year's anniversary, but we're around for the (slightly late) annual gacha and an extra little treat - magicka for posts and thread creation is doubled for the remainder of the month, as are completed thread claims! If you're thinking about coming back to your creatures, now is the best time! See you out in the caves!

Please claim your gacha rolls in this thread using the below form. Please only post once for yourself and edit your post when claiming new rewards. Each player may roll the gacha once per day, for a maximum of 5 rewards. Copy the date and time from the footer of your roll, as well as the reward tier and what you're claiming. GMs will mark your post when the rewards are sent out.

Upcoming Battle - The Unbound Champion

Saran'zol, the Unbound Champion

Now that the Olympics are reaching their conclusion, it's time to detail the upcoming battle against Saran'zol. This will be a raid boss encounter - each participating gembound will have a health bar of 20 HP each. Once their health reaches 0 they will be knocked into their chrysalis and removed from the fight. A gembound that chrysalizes during this fight will receive a guaranteed modified chrysalis consequence. It will be randomly rolled from the list bellow:

Rupture - The same as the default consequence, but you can choose where it manifests
Adjunct - Gembound will grow a single usable arm on the left side of their body. It will be slightly smaller but otherwise similar to their existing limbs.
Oculi - Gembound will receive an extra set of eyes in a radial position beneath their existing eyes.
Glitch - Gembound will display either glowing red cracks or patches of steel gray coloration
Wither - Instead of feeling fatigued, the gembound will feel overloaded and energetic at times. Harmless red sparks may jump from the gemstone.
Fissure - The same as the default consequence, but you can choose where it manifests
Stray - Gembound will experience moments of intensified and reddened vision and will be haunted by strange red and black dreams. Their voice may take on a strange, charged, crackling tenor at times.
Manifest (unique consequence) - Gembound will grow black and red spikes in random places over their body (at points that do not hinder movement)

At the end of the fight, any character still standing will receive an additional ʡ100 and the Secret Handshake technique. Roll totals will be calculated and the top 3 characters that did the most in the fight (highest rolls + hardest hitting) will receive extra IC rewards.

Each round will be 3 days, with grace given for real life concerns. While characters will not be able to double post to catch up if they miss a round, they will not be overtly punished and will simply miss out on a round.

The current Olympics winners that are offered a place in the fight are the following:

Congratulations to our August OTM winners! Our Character of the Month is the MVP of the Volcanic Vents wing of the Fungeons and most unfortunate kebab of the Magicka Show: Tourmaline. Speaking of that event of great misfortune, [OLYMPICS V] Magicka Show! takes the title for our Thread of the Month. Vestyge returns for an encore as part of our Pair of the Month, Vestyge and Grishia. And last, but not least, is our Member of the Month, Choir, well-known for a cast of down-to-Earth characters like Attikias and Yvan, and unfortunate survivors like Pollen and Pallas.

Congratulations to our July OTM winners! Character of the Month for July is the physically imposing but internally complex Valkhound, Vestyge. Pair of the Month is the shockingly wholesome duo Yvan and Ryoto, who ALSO happen to feature in our Thread of the Month: [Quest] The Training Dungeon - Natural Caves. This is one of our four Training Dungeon quest threads, and one with plenty of drama to read through! Member of the Month for July is Jaymie, who in addition to playing a ton of notable characters like the friendly magic cat Wilder, reborn natural guardian Rift and fiery deer September, has also been working very, very hard in updating Origin's NPC List, Bestiary, and running Origin's Fifth Olympics! Origin's Fifth Olympics

Welcome back, one and all, to one of Origin Cave’s most iconic events! Credits to previous GM Briar for developing the original version of this event way back in 2015! This year is being organized by Jaymie - if you have any questions, feel free to ask her or any of our GMs for clarification. We’ve got a bit of a twist this year, and an extra special finale, so stick around to see the fireworks!

What is the Olympics?

The Origin Olympics are a set of three competitions - Magicka Show, Wrestling Tournament, and Obstacle Course, showcasing the skill paths of magical, physical, and others, respectively. Characters are free to enter regardless of their chosen path or level - results are based on a combination of rolls and your in-character creativity! So come and show us what you got!

This year, the Olympics are being sponsored by Overseer Tectus and will take place in the caves around Orion. The purpose of this year is to find our most worthy candidates to face the NPC Saran’zol, the Unbound Champion in a raid-style boss encounter!

Events

The Magicka Show will take place by the Spire in Polaris. Each character will have three turns to give a display of their most impressive and creative magical abilities! The results will mostly be based on RNG, but creativity may win the judges over - so show us the most creative and spectacular uses of your spells that you can think of!

⁠— Using spells on anyone but yourself is grounds for disqualification - nobody is getting hurt here!

The Wrestling Tournament will take place in the Forum of Orion. This is a bracket style tournament where you fight your way to the end in a series of 5 round battles. These are intended to be wrestling matches, not full-on fights - intentionally causing damage or injuries or using magic is grounds for disqualification.

⁠— For fairness sake, age bonus will be capped at +5

⁠— Characters are expected to post rather quickly to keep the fights moving - you should respond within 3 days or your character will suffer an automatic loss.

The Obstacle Course will take place throughout the cave of Monoceros. This is a display of your character’s speed, agility, and problem solving, through a marked dash across the cave. Characters are not permitted to fly, use magic, or otherwise skip sections of the course to get them to the end. A successful roll will move you to the next section of the course. Failing a roll will hold you back - you should continue to roll until you have successfully moved through each part of the course.

⁠— Characters physically incapable of going through the course cannot place or win prizes, but they can still participate for the fun of it!

Rewards

Each character can only claim one placement reward across the entire olympics. Characters may enter as many competitions as they want, but they can only win placement rewards once. They can still earn medals and all character can claim participation rewards!

⁠— First place in each Event will receive ʡ 400
— Second place in each Event will receive ʡ 300
— Third place in each Event will receive ʡ 200
— All placing characters will receive a medal achievement!

— Participation in each Event will net that character ʡ 50, regardless of placement. May be redeemed multiple times on the same character, per Event.
— Successfully helping to set-up, judge, announce, et cetera will net each character ʡ 75. Redeemable once per character.

Magicka and achievements will be handed out automatically at the closing of each event.

The Unbound Champion

The finale of the Olympics will feature a raid-style boss encounter with the NPC Saran’zol - the top three winners of each event will be eligible to participate. This is an optional event. If you do not want a specific character in the fight, please make it known and we will select the next placement to participate instead.

All characters that fight against Saran’zol will earn an achievement for their bravery. Be warned - while this is not a deadly fight, Saran’zol is a powerful NPC that can, and will, knock characters into their chrysalis if they are reduced to 0 HP, and apply a modified minor chrysalis consequence. These are slightly different and less punishing than your typical consequence - more details will emerge once we get to that!

Any characters still up at the end of the fight will receive a special spell and ʡ 100, and the top 3 fighters will receive additional, and very special, IC rewards!

Roles

Participating in an event means you are actively competing in an event. Players may only have a maximum of two characters per event.

Helping is taking a secondary role in the Olympics - setting up the Obstacle Course, being a stand-by medic, judging, announcing, etc. When signing up to judge, its recommended that the character stick to the event corresponding with their level path, but if a particular event is overflowing with judges, we may move some elsewhere. You will be asked beforehand.

Spectating means a character is posted watching the events, cheering for participants, etc. and does not require signups. Spectating will not yield any extra magicka, besides typical thread claims.

Unfortunately, due to circumstances, Ordered characters will not be allowed to participate but Mother may have something extra for them to do in the meantime, so keep an eye out!

Dates

Registration will close on June 30th and the events will begin on July 7th! Once the events begin, late entrants will not be accepted, unless in the case of new or returning members.

Setup threads should be started or joined no later than June 30th and should aim to be complete before the events begin.

⁠— There is no hard requirement for setup, they are just for fun and flavor, so go be creative!

Welcome to Cycle 122!

First off, Congratulations to our June OTM winners! Character of the Month for June is our Cyneweard, the Knight with shining battle-axe currently struggling with the Clearstone gradually infesting him with Order, and all the trauma and confusion tangled up in this! This month's Pair of the Month consists of the questionable duo of young Triage and their would-be victim, Bauxite-T-One, whose thread together was a strong contender for Thread of the Month, too. Just edging it out for Thread of the Month is major lore and event thread AND ON HER WING DID WE SEE THE SUN, in which the Gembounds of Origin see the surface--and the real sky--for the very first time. (For most of them, at least.) June's Member of the Month is Silkwyrm, playing the aforementioned Bauxite along with everyone's favorite trauma-monster of the Hive, Juggernaut; lovely moth creature with the flare for the theatrical and dramatic, Luna, and newly-armored, jack-o-lantern-faced, winged hyena (yes, you read that right) Relic!

Origin's Tenth Anniversary Event is now ending. With it, Nemean's Trivia event and Totum's Golem-Making Class, along with our gacha raffles, are also coming to a close. Be sure to get your final Gacha claims in ASAP, along with any final posts in those two threads!

Character Raffles

Congratulations on the Winners of the Valkhound Raffle and the Winners of the Drone Raffle of June! Virosa, the Black Tangle has been won by Lemmiwinks; Valethyr, the Absolver has gone to Spudbuds; Drone 017 Banshee has been won by Viv, and Drone 018 Architect has been won by Shafaer! We can't wait to see what chaos--and order--these characters get up to!

New Cave - Scorpio!

June sees the opening of a new cave, Scorpio, in the related Quest, A Long Hibernation. Rather than a massive ecosystem to explore, Scorpio is a very small, minor room consisting of NPC shops and market stalls, along with the tavern, The Roaring Hearth Inn. At The Roaring Hearth, you may spend your hard-earned coins on hearty food, delicious drinks, and... what's that, you say? "What's a coin?" Look no further!

Coins & Gemcoins - A New Economy!

Maybe you've noticed the new Coin and Gemcoin fields pop up across character inventories?

Our new Bounty System introduces Coins and Gemcoins (25 coins = 1 Gemcoin). The Bounty System is an economy system, allowing characters to hunt, gather, etc. for Scorpio's NPCs in return for coins. Players can edit their characters' coin amounts themselves (but we ask you to be honest to what they've been up to; bounty claims, for example, must be made in threads, and not off-screen). Beyond that, your characters may post their own bounties, or trade their coins for other characters' goods and services. If NPC interaction is more your style, the General Goods store, Blacksmith shop, and Tailor all have basic goods for sale.

Dungeon Crawl Event

To get everyone started, well, our NPCs have just awoken to find that all their supplies have rotted or perished over time. The freshly awoken shopkeepers and the Innkeeper, Bartholomew, need supplies! The Dungeon crawl will be Bartholomew's attempt to give would-be adventurers a relatively safe taste of Adventuring™. Maybe your characters can learn a few things about the process of Adventuring™, or gain some valuable loot in the dungeon! To sign up, head to the mentioned [Quest] A Long Hibernation for your characters to be pointed in the right direction! (The food and drink in this thread are free! Woo! The Dungeon Crawl itself will begin in two days, on June 3rd. Your character does not need to be posted in the Tavern thread first, if you don't wish to do so!

July's event is still a mystery, but what's that weird red light shining from parts of Orion's walls..?

The April Showers event has come to a close! Water spells have returned to normal price for May.

Congratulations to our May OTM winners! Character of the Month for March is our last CotM's new mortal enemy: V-Ruby-One, dramatic in its struggle against the clutches (and urges) of Chaos. This month's Pair of the Month is a meeting of sky (sort of) and sea: the fluffy dragon Iceheart and sea serpent Undertow. May's Thread of the Month features one of the devastating encounters by our Character of the Month in 'NOBODY SURVIVES JUDGEMENT DAY'. For Member of the Month, you guys voted for me! I wanted to thank you for that; everyone has been mentioning that I have been helping to keep Origin going and I really appreciate it but honestly, you guys make it fun (and very worthwhile). That being said, never forget that this site would not exist without Madison's creation and CJ's incredibly hard work. (I pester her for behind-the-scenes coding and lore information, and she still whips out incredible site artwork and so on. Constantly. Round of applause, please.)

Happy tenth anniversary!

May 1st, 2025 — Ten whole years!! What an insane number. It has been a wild ride and we appreciate you guys so much for sticking around. Thanks for joining us on here on ORIGIN, we wouldn't be here without you! A special shout-out to Game Master Dark who has hoisted it all upon her shoulders the last few years, keeping quests and events running and even taking the helm as our third admin to push narrative and story decisions focused on the cave. I love seeing everyone's creatures and I hope to see many more in the years to come!

Below you will find a list of events we have cooked up for the beginning of May. Keep an eye out later in the month for even more stuff!

Quests and Events

— NOCTUA OPENS: AND ON HER WING DID WE SEE THE SUN is a thread where the Visitor has Wished upon a feathershard for the Gembounds to see the Surface of Let—and their Wish was granted!

— Totum Golem Quest: we can dream, we can pretend is a quest where Totum has learned to create small golems by infusing them with their magic. They don't last long but they sure are neat! Join others in learning this new non-elemental spell!

— Nemean Trivia: NEMEAN'S NIFTY TENTH ANNIVERSARY TRIVIA (yes, it is a mouthful) is an event where Gembounds may revisit the other events of years past in a series of sort-of-gameshow questions!

Gacha Rolls 2025

— The gacha channel will open later today! It will be open until May 31st.

— #gacha-rolls-2025 will be our gacha channel for this year. Roll in this channel using the &gacha command and receive a random prize!

— Cooldown: the cooldown role returns this year. When you roll for the gacha, your account goes on a 12-hour cooldown before you can use the command again. This is to help reduce the load on prize claims for our Game Masters and Mods.

— Used Tickets and Prize Claims: reply to this same thread with your ticket counter and prize claims. See the code in the next post for how you should post.

— Winner's Choice: if your gacha rolls a Winner's Choice, you can ask me for quite literally anything. As long as it is reasonable we can work it out! Feel free to start a DM with me letting me know your ideas :) Sorry, but no magicka requests!

Bounty Board

You can claim up to five (5) bounty tickets total for additional rolls in the gacha. Claiming bounties that add up to more than five (5) tickets is fine, but you will only be awarded up to five tickets!

Quality of Life Updates

April Showers & April OTMs!

April Showers
Look at this! Torrential showers, both of rain and of Magicka! Time to take advantage! Water spells are cheaper for the duration of April for native-element characters to purchase, as follows:

Low Intensity - From ʡ150 to ʡ125
Medium Intensity - From ʡ250 to ʡ200
High Intensity - From ʡ500 to ʡ400

In addition, spell borrows used to purchase Water Element spells will also refund ʡ50--please make a note when claiming in Update Me!

Transcendence is discounted to ʡ1000 magicka for April--but the thread will need to be started and finished within April. Good luck, Gembounds! GM note: If a character begins and fails their Transcendence trial within April, they can still get the discount so long as they try again once they emerge from their chrysalis, however many times that may take... dun dun dun!

May Flowers!
May will feature our regular Origin anniversary--but with a special twist. In May, Origin will have been running for ten years! Our usual Gacha will run (thank you CJ) and there will be some interesting in-character developments to watch out for...

Low Intensity Transformation. The user creates small, crystalline sugar snacks in any shape and color they desire. These candies can be combined with other magic or items, but cannot hold living beings.

Congratulations to our April OTM winners! Character of the Month for April is our favorite venomous corrupted Maned Wolf, Esther! (Eternal kudos for this wonderful character FULLY EMBRACING Chaos and all its quirks. We love them for that!) This month's Pair of the Month are young, impressionable, wide-eyed Daphne and their incredibly dubious new mentor/role model/teacher, V-Ruby-One. April's Thread of the Month is 'oracle of delphi (never heard of her)', including Wish Magic a la little black cat Wilder, and some seriously juicy lore drops. Member of the Month for March is one of our brand new members Roslyn, coming in swinging with a small roster of delightful new characters, including ominous tiger Rajani, the above-mentioned Daphne, and the strikingly beautiful Eira!

Spring Regrowth!

Welcome to the Spring Regrowth OOC Event! For the next one month (until April 8th), Origin will offer a few incentives for active characters--old and new!

New Life
• Give Life and Give Stone will be half-cost for the event's duration
• Newly registered characters receive double starting Magicka (ʡ100)
• New characters who are basic Earth animals, and first-generation (not children of existing site characters) may claim a free Low Spell Borrow should they hit a post count of 10 before April 8th

Busy Bees
• Magicka rewards for posting during Spring Regrowth will be doubled
• Thread claim amounts will be raised for the event by 1.5x: ʡ30 for a Short Thread, ʡ75 for a Medium Thread, and ʡ300 for a Long Thread

New Faces
• Claimable rewards for posting ads on other sites will be upped to ʡ10 from ʡ5 for the event's duration. Be sure to follow other sites' guidelines for posting!
• Players who post at least 20 ads, or recruit a new player to the site (we'll need your new recruit's name in Update Me or Discord's #requests channel) may claim a second starting spell on newly registered characters. If you don't want to make a new character, you may claim a same-element, low-intensity spell for an existing character

Congratulations to our March OTM winners! Character of the Month for March is the adorable and brand spanking new opossum baby, Priscilla. March's Pair of the Month is... Priscilla!! and Miriam, an incredibly questionable first stranger to meet... The Thread of the Month is '[TGEF] The Fire In Our Eyes', in which a bunch of Gembound, tasked with an all-important cleansing of Eridanus on pain of death if they mess up, proceed to roll a tragic number of critical fails in a row. Member of the Month for March is Miles, newly returned and raring to go with Priscilla--but many of you may remember their older characters, like KING LIVIUS (long may they reign), the OG Oil-beast Nox, and the heroic red wolf, Kin-Kin (complete with cape).

Temporary Closure and Domain Migration

January 29, 2025 — Domain EXPANSION! Just kidding - we are moving!

Hey all! On Friday, January 31st at 9AM PST the forum will temporarily close. During this downtime the forum will be completely unavailable as I migrate all of our stuff to our new domain: https://origin.boreal-nights.space

After the migration is complete, the soundtrack-howl domain will redirect to the new domain until April 7th. Make sure you save the new web address!

I expect ORIGIN to be down for a few days until it is back online and accessible at the new domain. It will reopen to the public on Friday, February 7th, 2025 on the boreal-nights domain.

All content will be ported over exactly as it is now, with some further optimizations solely on my end—it should feel the same for you at the new domain as it does on this one.

Welcome to Cycle 116!

First off, while it's been quiet on-site, there IS a holiday event up for those who'd like to take part! [Event - Holidays 2024] Holiday Magic! is a gift swap thread taking place in Ursa (but open to any characters, Chaos included!) in which characters may first deposit a gift, and then make any changes they wish to any gift already left by a different character. The gifts will be randomly assigned at thread's end (dates are in the thread!) but characters may trade, afterward, as they see fit! This is also an optional art thread: characters must write or draw their descriptions of the changes to enact them, meaning that you are free to sketch what your characters might draw and post it in the thread. Have fun!

Congratulations to our December OTM winners! Character of the Month this cycle is Giggle, the ancient (in Origin terms, at least) mystic Spotted Hyena. Our Pair of the Month is made up of of Anala and Aran, an unlikely duo meeting to discuss Business™ transactions in their latest thread. Welcome to Cycle 114!

Congratulations to our October OTM winners! Character of the Month this (spooky) October is the young deer September, whose autumn name will hopefully soon match the forest fire he's been planning. Eridanus is pretty overdue, right-? Our Pair of the Month is another Chaos-loyal pair: the confused Overseer and overworked Master Tectus and Vargas. The Thread of the Month features the same pair, with the latter struggling to brief the former on the last, oh, few centuries or so of news and the former trying to catch up, in hey man, nice promotion.
